Haha yeah it looked like solid metal until I moved to the 3k wheel. Then whole thing got noticeably darker but still has a metal looking shine. Think I may try to stop sanding before it darkens

The dark colored needles are likely horneblende, the metallic look is owed to manganese in the horneblende. The rock as a whole might be gneiss, schist, or amphibolite. All of those can contain a lot of horneblende. Awesome. Thanks for the info! Always amazed at the amount of knowledge contained in the heads of ppl here!

Thank you hummingbirdstones! Tho I will have to polish it again bc I took some sandpaper to it and sanded it to where it looks more like metal lol. jasoninsd this is what I was talking about. This pic is outside full sun.
