I got a degree in Geology some 45 years ago but never had much experience with geodes and ended up in the ministry after college. I got a bad hand and need someone to crack a small geode for me. It is oval shaped about the size of a dinosaur egg. I live in Columbus Ohio and would pay someone to open this up for me without destroying it while I am there. If interested just email me jcmoore.main@gmail.com. Thanks. (Pretty sure it is a geode---heavy and dense and shaped like an egg---just curious what is inside).

If you can, join a rock club and you can use the equipment or have someone else use the equipment to cut it open.

Yes a club is your best bet make sure you cut it open, breaking or smashing is not worth it. If something good inside you will wreck it. A tile saw may work for something like that.

Have had more than one person come by my booth and after seeing the polished Geodes I was selling, asking if I could polish one they had broken open. Told them that ship had sailed and they were out of luck.
I understand the thrill of seeing a geode broken open, just for long term I much prefer cutting and polishing.
