I did all the soldering in one shot...pretty pleased with myself! Not so impressed with the rhodonite though. First time working with it and I must say it didn't polish up very well. The finish at best can be described as satin and that is pretty complimentary. Is all rhodonite like this or are there different qualities?

Beautiful as always! I love your work.
It looks like you caught some orange peel on the rhodonite. I have had some like that. Most of it works beautifully, though. Best thing is to keep a light touch on the softer wheels.
ETA- Best to call that OJ Kambaby.

Outstanding pendant. The design really showcases the cabs.

The all-pink rhodonite works well as accent pieces and leaves the attention on the OJ. The setting is amazing.
I’ve not experienced orange peeling with rhodonite, and usually gotten a good polish.
ETA: but I also have only worked with it a handful of times

I'm probably not supposed to say this kind of thing anymore...but that is a very sexy and very "feminine" pendant...in a good way! Not just because of the pink, but the overall structure of the pendant just screams femininity to me. Great job! Love the OJ in particular.

Very pretty! Nice job on soldering all of it at once. What hardness of solder did you use?

hummingbirdstonesI used medium solder thinking I would have to touch it up with some easy solder afterwards. It wasn't necessary. I started using Mapp gas and that may have helped. Thanks to everyone who commented on liking it however the more I look at it I ask myself "What the hell was I thinking???" On my scale it is on the garish side. That said someone will love it and it'll probably sell easily!

I wonder if it wouldn't look better upside down. Not that it doesn't look fine now.

Don't tell me a bottle attachment, plumbers torch.

rockjunquieI upgraded to an Orca about 6 months ago. Before that it was a plumber's torch. I tried butane but could never get enough heat for large bezels. My local club has a rosebud propane torch that I use for processing silver to make sheet and wire.
