Thanks Herb I learn something everyday. I do no make cabs at all so I never considered it was hard to remove. While I polish whole slabs it grinds right off. I have also found industrial Goof Off ( not the water base) pulls it out if it has soaked into the rock a bit. I will be more carful where I write in the future. I learned something new too! I'll have to try industrial Goof Off next time. Some times acetone removes the ink fairly quickly, but other times it seems to do almost nothing.

I like the clear bins. I think about 30 of these 6qt bins are full of slabs. Probably about 90% of those are slabs I have cut. Just another reminded that I either need to sell some slabs or start cabbing again. Chuck

Rock gods are mad at me for my haphazard way of storing rocks. They're everywhere.

I couldn't like this. While I know you were showing the drawers, I almost threw up when I saw all those poor parrots. Why in God's name does the Smithsonian need to have so many of the same kind of bird? All those beautiful parrots laying dead in drawers. Now I know why Macaws are endangered.
I am disgusted with the Smithsonian.

Buckets. Hundreds of buckets, bins, totes, etc. Rare/pricey stuff gets stored in the cellar or rock trailer. The rest gets stored in the shop, under the shed, or anywhere else it won’t fill with water. It’s a mess 😂. Take the others advice, not mine.

Check out govdeals.com- depending on where you live, you might be able to score some really cheap but sturdy vintage/antique cataloguing cabinets (or library card cabinets or map storage drawers or a vast number of various cool institutional storage furnishings). You’ll have better luck if you are close-ish to a college or university or large state or federal institution of some kind. The stuff is cheap and I imagine you could find some units that would make a good-looking organizational setup.
I’m still in the newbie phase where I’m amassing slabs and rough in buckets, but I’m imagining my porch will soon be overtaken as well!
