When I started cabbing, I had an impressive slab collection and pathetic cabbing skills. I now have a much, much larger slab collection, and respectable, but not great cabbing skills. Learn on what you've got, and worry about getting nicer stuff once you got a few more under your belt. With that said, it won't take long to get bored cabbing rocks that you don't like. For learning / practice purposes, they've got be interesting enough to motivate you, but not so nice that you'll feel bad if they don't turn out as great as you had hoped. I am speaking from personal experience, not suggesting that your cabs aren't turning out well. They look better than mine did until I had about 3X your experience. I tried really hard to make nice cabs right from the start, but when I look back at them now, it took at least 20 or 30 before I started getting really nicely shaped and even domes, which is the one indispensable element of a good cab. Thank you. I am not a great cabber yet but am considering this a long-term hobby and will probably buy better material as my skill increases. Every cab I finish turns out better than its predecessor in my eyes.

Next thing you know your computer desk will look like this. This is my work computer in my barn. You can guess how much "work" I've been getting done. Lol! That's what my "shop" is going to look like.

Thanks! I'm hoping to expand my collection as I get better and start selling. My son just moved to SC. He can't take all his slabs (my hand me downs). When he goes through them and if he pitches any- I'll keep you in mind. He has a bunch of decent stuff. Thanks! I definitely need to scrap together the funds for more slabs. I can't wait for my clubs sale. I like just looking at slabs! 😂

And the little wooden cubby thing where you used to store you winter hats and gloves will look like this And the other wooden cubby thing that you used for business paperwork? Then there's the spot on the floor where you toss the ones that are fresh off the saw, or that you pulled out to look at and didn't feel like putting away. Woah! I could spend a lot of time there! I can't wait for my shop to look like that.

That's what my "shop" is going to look like. I've made a decision not to move any rocks into my house (except finished cabs) or my whole house would look like that. I'll get it all organized someday. Maybe. Or perhaps I'll just keep slabbing rocks instead.

This winter I will get organized.

Those are some nice slabs. 2 slab saws??? Awesome! I'm jealous.
