Very nice! Is the shank/base your own reticulation? Well done!

gemfellerThe surface finish on the ring shank is fused silver filings. Very simple to do, apply flux, sprinkle filings and heat until the filings flow.

That's beautiful and a really nice piece of blue. Good Peruvian blue is getting quite hard to find. You can find crappy stuff all full of matrix, but the nice dark gemmy stuff is almost impossible to get anymore.

I have some blue opal preforms that I got mixed up with some BC ocean stone preforms and now it's near impossible to tell them apart! DOH!!!!

I know reticulated pythons, and I know the standard definition, but I’m not seeing a “network.”

Very pretty ring, Bill — the contrast between the textured ting and polished bezel is very attractive. In a similar way, I find the the cool, polished blue of your Peruvian opal to be a pleasing contrast with its white and black color patterns/inclusions.

stephanAlthough I know how to reticulate silver and that I have a good idea what is taking place within the silver/copper alloy, asking me to describe it would result in a very lengthy and probably confusing reply! Rio Grande has a pretty good description on their site www.riogrande.com › article How to Reticulate Silver - Rio Grande

I have some blue opal preforms that I got mixed up with some BC ocean stone preforms and now it's near impossible to tell them apart! DOH!!!! You can separate them by specific gravity. Opal is about 2.15 (+.08/-.09). Jasper is between 2.5 and 2.9.
