Yeah, don't drink that stuff. Here I was thinking you knocked out a cab and celebrated with half a bottle of fancy liquor I can't afford... Believe me, if you can't afford it, I probably can't either. 😂 Doesn't look like a very good drink. I celebrated by drinking some apple cider. 😃

Plus...it's nice to get and have the support of family!

I have gold sheen obsidian and labradorite that totally draw my attention every time I look through the preforms.

Well facing a severe lack of options and feeling kind of catty about it, I decided to whisker up and dig through my sagenite drawer and unexpectedly saw this... What do you see? (hint, it might have something to do with this contest...)

(hint, it might have something to do with this contest...) I see a cat! Incredible. You might want to grind a low dome on that one for risk of letting the cat out of the bag cab. I don't think the theme is as restrictive as it first appears. Tons of rocks have "whisker" in them, for example. The theme may require some outside of the box thinking or a keen, creative eye, but I tried to design it so everyone with at least a decent number of slabs can almost certainly find something that fits the theme. You've got me concerned by your lack of options comment, because I'm under the impression that you've got a treasure chest full of preforms. Maybe I should put this in a separate post, but if anyone wants to participate and doesn't have any suitable material, I am happy to share a slab or two of some tiger's eye, blue tiger's eye, leopardskin jasper, cheetah agate, or maybe even a whisker or curly cat tail slab. I don't want my silly cat obsession to cause anyone to to sit this month out for lack of suitable material...

Part of my problem is I've never had that keen eye of imagination so I was never really good at "what do you see" games. I see a rock. It's a rock. This one just kind of jumped off the page at me while I was searching through my Mexican sagenite looking for whiskers that didn't look like a cactus garden. I never worked with most of the cat names material but I do have a boatload of leopardskin jasper so anyone and everyone is welcome to hit me up for a handful of preforms to play with to get them in the game.

"The Cat and the Mouse" — not an entry, but I thought you might enjoy it... I cut this small cab from a poor area of a low-grade slab of Crazy Lace. A few years ago I had posted the slab in one of those "What do see in this slab?" threads. I didn't see the cat or mouse until someone pointed it out. The not-quite-finished cab is not cut well (yet) but it may never be. To avoid erasing the "mouse" I had to leave a little high spot on the dome. It'll find it's way into a ring or little pendant someday.

Cat Cab Question- How should a silhouette that is 2 1/2” x 1 1/2 “ be contoured for a UV-18 vibe tumble?

Cat Cab Question- How should a silhouette that is 2 1/2” x 1 1/2 “ be contoured for a UV-18 vibe tumble? First of all, I love where this is going. As for doming that cat, I have no clue except for a dremel or foredom. What is the material?

Holajonathan, the material is a colorful piece of La. palmwood.

So I was cutting a few preforms last night and came across this slab that I cut months ago...not sure I'll have time to shape and finish it for the contest so I'm going to put up a pic just for fun. Plus, it would be a huge cab to save the cat's head shape! Cold Mountain Thunderegg...

Interesting- with my limited imagination I just saw the front-on view of the head with the two ears sticking up...

So is the grand prize a cat -ass- trophy? I think it should be this:
