Not impossible. upon closer inspection, do you see the ears, eyes and nose? It took me awhile of staring at it, but I do believe I see the cat head! If so, the triangular spot right there in the middle would be the cat's right ear... Yup. And it’s a bit of a dog-tooth pattern (sorry, kitties), so both ears are there. The eyes are small and sleepy….

One cat did abandon us to live with a neighbor who owns a company that manufactures THC extract vape cartridges. Snoop Catt? Damnit, I couldn’t find any red-eye cat emojis.

This is exactly what they're talking about when they say the GRASS is greener on the other side of the fence! Rose thought so. Sophie opted for my lap. Oh, and then there’s always Soundgarden’s theory: ”the grass is always greener where the dogs are sh***ing.”

Beautiful cab agatewhisperer! I picked up some Leopard Skin, but it's way too brittle to work...or so it has seemed so far. You did a great job working that! The cat is cute too...looks like one of those prizes you win at the carnival or county fair!

Very nice girlie leopardskin cab. Leopardskin "jasper" (rhyolite) almost always has uneven hardness, but well worth the hassle with those colors and patterns.

You didn't think I was going to miss out on my own contest theme, did you? Royal Imperial "Cat's Eye" Jasper I forgot to take a good "before" photo of the slab. This is the piece, but I cabbed the other side. A link to a full size photo for Tommy

Thanks. I worked that dome like I cook a beef brisket. Low and slow for 2+ hours.

Barely managed to squeeze one out. The girdle needs straightening, and a polish. The edges are hematite, so it'll take some time, and as the rain was getting heavier and colder, I stopped (not quite CATS and dogs, but I was shivering, which does not help with straightening the girdle). I won't have a chance to go back and finish before the month ends, so I'll submit, even though it's technically still in progress. Nice cabs you guys! After seeing the other entries, I'm thinking I should have gone with a cooler shape. This is a fun contest with GREAT entries. Good luck to you all!

Good thing you were able to work in the rain, that should have kept you from having to use the squirt bottle while on the wheels.

jasoninsd I've been working on it. Not that cab, but some other ideas. I was trying to do a full bodied cat, but body parts kept breaking off on the trim saw. I considered a profile similar to yours, but I didn't want it to be compared unfavorably to your masterpiece. I was recently trying to sketch out a cheetah head onto some cheetah agate, or a Japanese cartoon cat shape. But I am horrible at drawing and I could never get anything I liked. So, I went with the deranged eye with something of a cat-eye shape (I hope). My cats sniffed it for about two seconds and were unimpressed -- not a good sign.

I showed mine to Trigger, but he was about as impressed with mine as your cats were with yours! LOL

Not my entry, just a little something for all you cat lovers out there who need a little last minute inspiration to finish up your kitty cabs before the end of the month. This tiger eye has a grainy look to it, but it's very chatoyant and didn't undercut along the "grain." It looks like petrified tiger wood.
