Forgive me if this thread has already been created. If not, what are some other hobbies you guys/gals are passionate about?

There was a thread like that long ago. Personally, I would have to say I have several other interests, but they don't deserve to be called hobbies because I devote little to none of my time pursuing them due to time and funds, other than watching others do them on YouTube. The other, mostly related, activity I do a lot of is steel fabrication and old machine restoration. Wood working as necessary. Just made a fairly nice drill press servicable and as soon as I can get the shop roofed will be setting up an old Atlas steel lathe. Got a table saw and router table recently, basic Ryobi, but with their premium fence, to build some slab/cab drawer cabinets and turn some live edge maple I have into river tables. Old cars was once a hobby, but things that involve crawling under heavy dirty things are less interesting these days.

I am a volunteer Puppy Raiser for Canine Companions. I am currently raising my 5th pup for the organization...it's so rewarding as they place highly skilled service dogs free of charge to people and organizations that need them. 1. Geller - yellow lab - (Recently Retired) placed as a school resource officer who helped to significantly lower the number of student restraints. 2. Maurice - yellow lab/golden cross - Placed as a service dog to a gentleman who uses a manual wheelchair. He helps him get dressed, open doors, & pull his chair with a special harness as needed. 3. Vala - black lab - a sweet pup who decided she would rather not work, and is living her best life in the hills of California! 4. Sprinkle - black lab/golden cross - Placed with a young woman who uses a powered wheelchair. She helps get dressed & undressed, pick up dropped items, open doors and SO much more! 4.5 (helped to finish) Sultan - yellow lab - placed as a Facility Dog in Southern Ohio 5. Woolley - just over 6 month old black lab - in training. We. will have him for about another year before he turns in for professional training. He goes everywhere with us. To the grocery, to movies, traveling, dinner in resturaunts, work....as many ways as we can to make them super comfortable in ANY situation! Anyway...super rewarding, and LOTS of ways to get involved! 🐾🐾🐾

Why not start a new one? Every time someone digs up an old thread a comment gets posted about digging up old dusty threads 🤣 Anyway I love building stuff, most of my lapidary equipment I built or fixed to work again. Long distance motorcycling - too bad there's not more room for rocks! I absolutely love turkey hunting. Nothing like stalking thunder chickens in the spring 👍 realrockhound what other hobbies do you enjoy?

As to the OP's question, right now my main hobbies are probably reading, watching TV with my wife, and keeping the local wildlife happily feed. Over the years I have had several hobbies including model railroading (initially Lionel O-27 and later N scale), to model rocketry, to U.S. philately, to international numismatics (which I still have small interest in - right now I'm fascinated with bimetal coins).

Sharpening tools was/is a hobby Unfortunately I haven’t the space or the other necessities to properly keep up with it
had my own mobile gig way back there barber shears, upholstery scissor was good cash
always planned to do a small biz in my golden years butte we all knohs how plans can go,,,
I was at Ace Hardware and they have started a knife sharpening service didn’t have time to check out there sharpening machine but it was one I never seen and It was fairly substantial unit
It had to be at least a 5 thousand dollar unit I’m really interested
I plan to go back to see what type of edge they can accomplish Compared to my Arkansas Hone Stones edmohs
I should add my latest passion is trailsting photographing sunsets
i seem to keep my self productive interested especially for another rock season summer are really a challenge

Oh man, I've had so many hobbies! I collected things, too. But, now, everything is rock related, which is good because the subject is so versified. I can cut, cab, wire wrap, drill, groove, silversmith, tumble... lots of stuff to do with rocks. I can't hound, though. Nothing around here.
I used to do paint and body work for fun and profit. It was nearly as good as rocks. All my pics are hard copy and buried. But, I have worked on some pretty sweet rides. But, I have also painted an airplane and a Winnabago.
I collect wooden boxes and I have a cameo collection that I add to infrequently (I'd rather buy rocks!)

I do enjoy rock climbing, playing piano, and snowboarding. I have other things I do, however… I would call these, along with the rockhounding, my main hobbies. I fly fish a do a lil bird hunting here and there. But those are activities I share more with my father.

OH SWEET!!! Are you using soft glass or borosilicate? It can be frustrating, at first, for both of them, but it's worth it.

I will be using the soft glass. I got my supplies from Devardi Soft glass is very user friendly. The best thing is you use less heat and you can get more variety of colors. Are you bead making?

I'd offer help and advice, but since I learned on boro, I suck at soft glass. They are radically different.

That is so cool, Ali! I can't wait to see what kind of bead creations you come up with. I've always wanted to try that, but I just don't see myself starting another hobby at my "advanced" age.
