I remember Glass Buttes in Oregon! My father said I couldn't miss it!! We missed it again and again. The road was about a foot deep of dust. We didn't have an air conditioner. Stopped at a restaurant to clean up. We were shocked to see that we were all blonde instead of having black hair or light brown.

Apparently, you didn't miss it! Beautiful stuff, especially those specimens with tiny white dots --- new to me. Thanks for showing it.

That fire slab is pretty cool...but that piece with the green sheen is amazing! I can see why you wanted a spearhead out of that one! Thanks for posting the pics!

As an opal cutter, I know about color bars and have cut plenty of opal. The fire layers in obsidian are so thin they scare the snit out of me. (crying)
