liveoak - Patty, that's a great entry...and a fantastic cab for your 8th one! - I'm jealous of the bandsaw by the way! victor1941 - Victor, the direction you chose for the pattern on that T-egg was a great choice! That looks great! Tommy - Eeny-Meeny-Miney-Mo out of that drawer!

I'll post a picture tomorrow Jason of the bandsaw, it's not very impressive looking BUT it was cheap & it took a standard diamond blade that you can buy AND it works not to waste rocks.

Tommy - Eeny-Meeny-Miney-Mo out of that drawer! As long as it's been since I've even entered a 'contender' cab I might as well just close my eyes and pick one

Patty I'd love to see it Patty! I'm all about function over form. It don't have to look "purty" to work right! (That was my best redneck engineer imitation! LOL) Tommy - Eeny-Meeny-Miney-Mo out of that drawer! LOL

Well... here's my entry. jasoninsd said that if I didn't use spendy material and try to go big, then I can't call myself a rockhound and that I need to go home. And that he no longer wants to be associated with me. First square i've ever done. 9th or 10th cab i've ever done. BatCave Rim Jasper

What I said was, "You need to GO HOME and SPEND time getting BIG MATERIAL! Heck of a job on this cab my friend! The material is gorgeous and fantastic job on the shape and dome!

realrockhound That is amazing material and I am so impressed with your cab! Squares can be difficult.
But.... I hate to be the one to tell you this, but you need to post a picture of the slab that the cab came from. Dems da rules. I think we would probably settle for a pic of rough, though, seeing how this is your first entry.

The slab it came from. I swear all 4 corners are square. This pic makes it look crooked

That is a beautiful cab realrockhound, perhaps even more so being only your 9th or 10th, and a square one at that.

Part of the reason my cabs have gotten better are with help from jasoninsd thank you brother I bet when Michelangelo was painting his masterpiece in the Sistine Chapel, he had a good friend of his come to see his work and the friend said, "Ha ha! You missed a spot!" *I just feel like the smart-aleck friend!

Guess it's my turn now, a little earlier than usual. A return to the concentric square would have been redundant, but still, gotta tip the hat to it and do something I haven't done before. So here it is. The Slab(s) My entry is a framed picture intarsia of Starry Night picture jasper trimmed with polkadot agate and framed with black agatized wood from the petrified forest area of AZ. The unknown pinkish white jasper is the moon, centered on the piece +/- .5mm ish to provide something not quite concentric... The side shot: A couple front shots for polish. The black wood is chippy and brittle to work with but takes a nice wet look shine to go with the polkadot and the Starry Night, much better than basanite. And the front shot for judging:
