I need a quality photo to put in my book. I have one, but would like a better one. I'm willing to buy the slab to get the photo. I just spent 4 hours trying to make a purchase on line, but no one seems to know what "Turtleback" means anymore. Two not fot sale from Pinterest.

This is what I consider turtleback. I have a polished 1/8 inch slab but can't find it. Either I gave it away or it's a slab in a slabstack.

I'm willing to buy the slab to get the photo. I imagine someone on here has to have a decent specimen. Heck, they wouldn't even have to sell it to you. They could just send it to you to take the pic and you could mail it back to them. I don't have one...and I'm not volunteering anyone...I'm just pondering out loud... EDIT: Apparently I did have one...posted on page 2. LOL

Absolutely. I just upgraded my camera. The slab was straight tb. This one has some lava lamp action.

1dave I know we had some, but I'm not sure if we sold them all. I'll check and see.

I found the slab. Not as good as I remembered. Photographed another cab. I think the picture I already sent is the best example.

I've had this specimen for a quite awhile, but never associated it with turtleback agate, but from the discussion here it seems to be a likely candidate. The facets are in the thin carmel layer and the alternating banded layer immediately beneath. The thickest carmel layer has the rough texture of so many volcanic and agate formations. Its from southern New Mexico in the Apache Creek area. Ideas?

Here is where I am at this point - Page 27 ( I hope to get to 100 pages) Sounds like a Rockmance Novel, where the main characters got all hot and bothered

One sentence for three photographs is what I call focused writing or brevity.

One sentence for three photographs is what I call focused writing or brevity. One picture is worth a thousand words. Three photographs - What more is there left to say? I wish I still had some of those clear agate turtle backs from 50 years ago. (sorry-2)

If someone has the specimen, I'm happy to pay for shipping to me - to photograph it for you well - and ship it back to owner.

1dave keep us abreast of your progress on the book please. I often notice RTHlings who are qualified to do a book on their respective areas of expertise and maybe your efforts will encourage them to publish their knowledge too.

So when is the book of poo coming out? I’d imagine the combined knowledge of RTHlings would fill many volumes. And it would likely be useful information, too.
