Seriously!! What the heck!?! I haven't watched the YouTube vid yet...maybe you talk about it there. Well, heck...I guess you won't be hitchhiking any time soon! LOL BTW - I'm working on getting my beard as gnarly (in a good way) as NDK 's! I was half expecting a meme His beard and hair is absolutely fabulous! Unfortunately both will be gone soo I thought about it...but I wasn't sure your "demeanor" with regards to the injury...so erred on the cautious side! LOL My wife wouldn't shed a tear if mine came off. She absolutely hates it! LOL PS That cave is bodacious. I was a member of a spelunking group when a kid. Those things are a dime a dozen in NW Ga, NE Al and south Tennessee. Used to lead groups into backwoods caves. People came out renewed lol. ..."IF" they came out. I bet it depended on how much yammering they did while they were down there as to whether you led them back out or not! LOL

Oh I don't mind laughing at my injuries
I love it, but we made a deal so the hair gets cut and the beard gets cut for his daughter's wedding. Luckily that grows back quick

Yeah it's a little disheartening coming back home and the temps go below freezing again. Not sure how soon we'll be able to hook up the garden hose to get these rinsed. Probably could do a handful at a time in a bucket in the house. Maybe something to consider when this snowstorm they're predicting rolls in tonight 🤦🏻

Great video you two! I had fun going along for the ride. Bummed I couldn't taste those donuts or beer, though.

I just got done watching the video. Way to go you two! Of course now I've got a hankering for donuts! LOL
I forgot pup-pup's name...but that was a really sweet greeting waiting for you two when you got back!
I gave the video a "thumbs" up...well...for several reasons! LOL

Thank you beefjello, hummingbirdstones & jasoninsd for enjoying our video. Ali does all the editing and I think she does a wonderful job and appreciate all her hard work. The donuts were good but honestly I was disappointed when we got there. I figured getting there at 6am we should be able to get anything they make. I wanted an apple fritter so bad. Well of course they didn't have any. Ugh 🤣

Thank you all! That is the very first video I've done at that length from scratch. It is very time consuming.
I cannot wait to get out on the motorcycles on start filming!

If you're not there within the first hour they open, they're completely sold out of the bacon covered maple glaze donuts...which seem to be the leading favorite they sell - and is my favorite by a long shot! Dang...now I REALLY want a donut! LOL

Now we have an added destination or 3 when headed east sometime hopefully soon. Got family in KC and friends in Springfield and Branson. Not so far away.

Sounds like you made the most of the trip despite lackluster mine experiences. I’ve been up to Mt. Ida 3 times in the last 2 years or so with mixed results.
The first time we were total noobs and went to Wegner for their phantom pit dig. It was July 2020 and HOT!! We had two children with us so the digging was a little slow though we did come away with some decent finds.
Next trip was October 2020 with a bunch of friends. We actually rented out the big green Airbnb next to the smaller unit that it looks like you stayed in. First day we checked out crystal vista and really enjoyed the freedom and scenery and even found some nice points. Next day we went to fisher mountain and definitely felt like we got YouTube scammed. I moved a TON of dirt that day and barely found anything. We had 8 people in our group and the finds were very lackluster. We then went to twin creek for our last day and I had done some research on the place before we went and saw that it would be more hard rock mining and I came prepared. They had just cleared off some more surface rock and some nice veins were exposed. I was definitely the guy on my stomach arm up to my shoulder scooping out peanut butter clay but so worth it, we hit a couple small pockets and got some great water clear points.
Our next trip was November 2021. Family trip again with just one kiddo this time and we decided to do a pocket dig at twin creek. Was pretty disappointed in the customer service as I tried contacting them the whole week leading up to the trip and nobody ever got back to me. When we got into town we drove up the first day and spoke to the woman running the check in. We explained that we’d be in town for 6 days and wanted to do a pocket dig. Apparently they were doing repairs on the excavator and it would be a couple days. When we arrived on our scheduled day the excavator was still broke but would be ready to go in an hour or so. We paid 500$ for the pocket and rather than have it carefully exposed and set aside for us I feel like there was little care taken and a huge corner of the wall was just scraped down and we were told our pocket was “in there” meaning we were basically digging through piles of rubble looking for our crystals. There was some stuff still on the wall but I definitely feel like it was a rush job and I didn’t get my moneys worth.
Looking forward to the next trip and checking out avatar and as always making the hike up to crystal vista.

Welcome to the board, sendstone. One thing we plan to do next time we get there is hike up to the vista. Heard many good things about it and we're wishing we had checked it out.

Looks like you guys had a great time. I love that there are about as many pictures of food and beer as there are of rocks!
