Edited: Went hounding yesterday in Hampton Butte area. Conditions were windy and sunny but with a definite chill in the air. Roads were dry. Picked up or dug a variety of pet wood and casts.
Detailed pix to come... though I did add a bucket pic below.

It can be quite the bearcat digging out there.

It can be quite the bearcat digging out there. Yes indeed and the shoulder has not been happy lately. I did snag these and I have some to cut yet.

realrockhound: interesting. Thanks for the reply. The suggestion helped me see it with new eyes. I thought those were some sort of limb impression. Another reminder that learning never ceases in the realm of geology and rocks. I'll post a pic when I cut. Thanks!

Some of the features on the outer matrix made me think it’s a possibility. Plus I have some white sagenite from the area. Could just be limb impressions like you said.

Here's a close up as well. I will cut and we shall see:). I appreciate the input.

My new skill seems to be bringing home ugly rocks. Welcome to my pity party. LOL. I've been bringing home fewer rocks so a I can leave some for others but the ones I've brought home lately I yi yi. The top pic is ok but the remainder are fairly ugly... no two ways about it. realrockhound you're right on the sagenite, another piece I picked up was a dead ringer. Thanks for looking.
