I am brand spanking new to this forum. I'm very excited and looking for some tips. I've acquired about 42 pounds of rough/raw crystals and I have plans to open my own shop up once I can get working on tumbling quicker. I currently use a Lortone 3A and while it just the job awesome it's just not enough to tumble rocks very quickly.
So far I'd say my best tumble surprisingly is my labradorite! I did a lot of research and it's not as hard as people make it out to be. However not all the stones have rainbows so I've yet to figure out how to sell that on my website.
I'm excited to learn on this form tips and tricks, and maybe even learn how to rock hunt myself!
Anyways, let's be friends and share tips

Welcome Veronica! Marketed properly even raw crystals can be sold for some decent scratch. Saw these the other day: I was also at an antique store and they were selling fist-sized plain clear broken (jagg-ed) geodes for $20/piece lol--I can only imagine how much you could charge for nice tumbled stones in the proper setting... Not me though, I hoard my stuff like a dragon with treasure.

I wonder what kind of price I would get for this 4 pound tumble polished quartz crystal? IMG_1805 by Findrocks, on Flickr

Welcome from Napa Veronica therealrocklover! BTW, "tumbling quicker" is kind of an oxymoron.

Welcome from Central California. Of course, marketing aside, all those pictures of crystals with price tags are ones that haven't sold. There's a big difference between selling stuff and having stuff for sale.

There's a big difference between selling stuff and having stuff for sale. Good point about the pricing. The primary rule in Sales, an item is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. I always keep that in mind when pricing items for my Shows. Always ask myself, "Do I think my price is a bargain?"
