I got a post card in the mail about his new book. Looks to be another excellent book full of great info and tons of eye candy.
If this is something you'd be interested in- get it sooner than later...

The book is great but the framed high quality material looks well priced.

Problem is, Hans's books are mostly "wishbooks" for me. They're nice for making ID's of old collection material but most of the stones shown are either worked out, unavailable or so high in price they're not practical for me to buy. Still, the pictures are wonderful and I'll probably buy the book just for the enjoyment of seeing the beauty Nature produces.

I have the other ones and, yes, they are good for IDs, but oh so purdy. I can only dream about running across some of it.

I could easily get you some of that rim jasper. I know where there are still some deposits of it I'd appreciate that very much. Let me know. My shop's almost ready to use after more than a year. Getting the new house into shape here in AZ has taken most of my time but hopefully within a month or so I'll be back at the wheels. I've really missed it. I collected in the Owyhees back in the picture jasper boom days but lacked the time and resources then to collect much of the fine material shown in his book on that subject. I was trying to teach myself how to cut fire agates when I lived in Boise and that was my main focus -- an opportunity lost. Still have some primo slabs of PJ to work so not all is lost. And I have some very nice fire agate cabs to compensate

When I get back home, I’ll go back out and collect some more, then get ahold of ya. The Veazie creek jasper is what I’d like to have more of. Unfortunately it’s blocked off by private property. So I’m trying to make the right contacts to get access through.
