The 4 points on left were knapped by RickB out of Flint River chert, coral and glass. Photo does no justice. I believe buddy Stan knapped the bi-color green glass point. And I found the far right creek polished 'thang' in a large south Alabama creek about 2 months ago; it should be authentic or alien made .

jamesp I prefer to knap flint and chert over glass and obsidian. Sometimes it shows when I've been working hard material and switch over to glass. At that point I will be working with a heavy hand instead of using a lighter touch. Here's two points that I worked up this week. Been on the SC coast and do this to relax in the afternoon shade. That big point you found makes all the other ones look scrawny. left to right - Mookaite jasper, Florida coral Edit: adding another one, a heated coral Savannah River stemmed point 5 3/4" long

After selling that glass and engaging with knappers I remember similar comments from them. You modern day knappers have amazing talents. It would be nice to find authentic points that come close to modern points !! Nice points you made there. Lot of the knappers seem to like working with heated coral. The rock bars on the Withlacoochee have tons of coral debris. The most I have ever seen at any site I have ever visited. The camps adjacent to the infrequent river crossings where the chip piles are cover 10-20 acres. Had to be a heavily populated area. Me and wife or me and a buddy have dug about a 5 foot diameter hole in any of those river crossing bars say 2 feet deep and would find 15 to 20 scrapers each dig. Had to be a choice spot to locate the butcher shop with clean cool water flowing by. If only we could take a trip back in time to see those people...

Very talented! Maybe I can get the husband interested in knapping as a hobby!
