Picked up a collection from an older rockhound this past week. So much beautiful stuff! Probably around 200 pounds of Montana agates in all sizes and a good chunk of Brazilians too; approximately 10x 10 gallon pails of uncut Montana's. Lots of petrified wood and fossils. Some slabs, some tumbling material, a big chunk of ammonite, and some other stuff in boxes that I haven't even opened up yet. Forgive the lack of agate pictures; it was starting to rain and didn't feel like dumping out buckets on the lawn and . Some more pictures here. Also got a fair amount of equipment. There's a Lortone flat lap (to sit next to the one I bought in the fall and haven't had time to use), a vertical polisher, a bull wheel (very excited to get this set up), an ancient Beacon Star trim saw, a weight driven slab saw of unidentified origin, a QT66 tumbler, a couple homemade/super vintage (read: very sketchy looking) tumblers, and a Lortone arbor (Beaver). It's going to take quite awhile to get everything organized and cleaned up; right now I can't do much except open the garage door. Whoops. .
Anyone need some agates?

Wow Mel. It looks like a great find. I’m looking forward to some more photos when you have dug through it more.

Wow! Sounds like you will be busy for a while. Definitely. The seller asked me to send him some photos of what I found because there was so much stuff he'd forgotten what he had. Are you familiar with a stone called Idaho Jade? Apparently very rare? The only reading I could find said it was found in a very small area of Idaho. He said there's a chunk of it in there about 2 pounds in size, and thought it might be worth a pretty penny, but I haven't found it yet....

That is an awesome haul!!! I kind of gasped out loud while looking through the beautiful pictures. I see some Brazilian agate in there too... I was working some myself before the nut on my arbor seized...

AKA Bitch Creek Jade, my wife and I went down to Bitch Creek to find some. We were climbing the trail out of the canyon back to the road where we had parked, as we were standing there trying to catch our breath and keep the rocks we had hauled up thus far from rolling back down the hill, my wife said "Now I know why they call it Bitch Creek". Tony PS - Nice haul

I think it's some sort of coral or fossilized plant maybe? jasoninsd - I was kind of mad about the amethyst/soccer fiasco until I realized that I have lots of much nicer amethyst and it costs me around six bucks a pound. Son learned his lesson though!

I have quite a bit out at the rock pile, I sell it for $6-10 a lb, a friend of mine who lives close to it sells it for less, how much less I am not sure. Heres one I sold last year, the only pictures I could find of one without going out and getting some to take pics of it. It is pretty tough stuff. Tony
