I've had a guy building a shed for me for the last three days. No, it has nothing to do with tumbling, we decided to do this right as the pandemic started and are only now getting around to it. He stopped in the garage this morning an asked what I was doing. I gave him the 30,000' view and told him that I had only been doing this since November.
He asked, "What do you do with them when you finish them?"
A little flummoxed, I replied, "I don't know. I haven't gotten that far yet."
Obviously, some people market their wares, but what do others do when (if) they finish a bunch of rocks?

I've got an old suitcase full... Thinking of selling the ones I don't love. (Don't ask about the suitcase!)

I spread them all out on the floor and roll around in them and make stone angels!

What do you mean what do I do with them!? I tumbled them, that's what I did!
If it was buckets of rough, you ask what I'll do with those... Well... I'm gonna tumble them.
Now you ask what I do with the tumbled rocks? Bro... That was the point!
Now I have shiny things. You know how many people like shiny things?
Like, dude, women adorn themselves with shiny rocks, lots of them.
It's like regularly getting presents "ooooo prettyyyyy!" -- dopamine, serotonin, that stuff -- gimme more!
Many are given away to friends and family, but I'm kind of selfish and keep the A+++ ones for myself.
Duds? eh, flowerbed, pothole in driveway. Waste not.

I still don't have an answer! LOL I've got an old suitcase full... Thinking of selling the ones I don't love. (Don't ask about the suitcase!) Nope...you can't throw an oddity like a suitcase reference out there and then say don't ask! I think an explanation is in order! LOL I spread them all out on the floor and roll around in them and make stone angels!

Who's ready for "story time" lol. I used to collect antiques before my rocks. I have a ton of old books and bottles, some dating to the 1800's. Well, I also collected trunks (the big steamer type) and some really old suitcases I picked up over time. As the rocks piled up, I realized the small one could display the rocks well, being as it had a mirror top. There, jasoninsd and @blockhead. Lol! My vibratory tumbler quit on me, so I'm trying to see what I need to do to fix it to finish my polish batch. Grrr

I give them away to kids when I am selling the jewelry I make from my cabs. I also decorate stuff with them such as around my sm water fountain, hot glue them to jar lids to make tea light holders, I have some in a gum ball machine. I keep meaning to glue some around a picture frame but haven’t done that yet. Attempting to make a Rain Chain but don’t like how I wire wrapped them so starting over with that project. Plus as others have mentioned, I fill up pretty jars with them.😀.

I haven't gotten that far either, been doing it for just over a year and a half (for some, that's about a completed stage 1 :-) ) I've been keeping mine in glass bowls that I look at and play with like fidget toys during zoom meetings. I've also started going back to my first batches and re-tumbling them now that I know what a really good shine can look like!!

If you get some of that green Styrofoam-ish kinda stuff they poke fake flowers into (I think regular Styrofoam would work just as well), you can put that in the center of the vase/container...then pack the stones around the "filler foam". That way you're not wasting tumbled rocks in the "interior" which will never be see past the stones on the outside edge. Leave just enough space around the filler foam for a couple layers/rows of rocks...same at the top...

It obviously uses more vases doing it...but then you don't have to dump and mix...

At one point I had a Large and a Medium FRB full of shiny pretties. I was asked if I would sell any so I sent away like 35 Lbs. I had so many regrets- but they went to an amazing cause. Now all I have left is a MFRB. SO I'm tumbling more to fill up another box. But seriously I gave away some, I sell some at our yearly garage sale (if we decide to participate, I let the grandkids go through them once in a while (and get the nastiest look from my kids lol). But mostly I make them shiny and put them in a box.
