The rainbow effect looks good, did you add ammonia to the LOS to get that ?

Thanks! I got the effect by accident, the one thing I did different than the other piece was that I didn’t heat it up so much before applying the liver of sulphur. I saw a piece with the same effect recently and I asked how it was achieved and the maker said he didn’t heat the piece and also used a tiny bit of ammonia in the liver of sulphur, then washed it off once he saw the colors he liked. I work primarily in copper so the only way I can see colors is with heat treatment or the dreaded patina (which are very frustrating & hateful ). I've been learning enameling to add color- but that's a whole other story.
Anyway, keep the ammonia trick - it looks nice.
BTW- what is the stone in the 3rd piece ?
Very cool.

drocknut thanks! liveoak the last pic is the back of the previous pictured piece. Liver of sulphur was used to get that rainbow effect in the hammered areas, I polished it off of the raised parts to get that look. Thanks jasoninsd honestly I’m amazed myself that I’ve made it this far with the hobby, and life in general LOL! I hear ya...there's a lot of people who have lost some bets with regards to how FAR I've made it now in life! I figure the last three decades have all been a "gift" since practically no one I know thought I'd make it past 20!

Beautiful work. I especially like the ones for which the bails become an integral part of the design.
