jamesp I sure hope they don't charge you for the 3-1/2 weeks your service was out. If they do, call and tell them you want a credit on your bill. I do it all the time when my internet or cable goes out. I time the outage and ask for a credit. They always fork it over, too.

It's pretty simple mohs. The local boys were born knowing how to use a tree climber for deer hunting up in a tree. It is a lightweight device you carry on your back that allows you to walk up a tree and then sit on it. Well these guys use it to climb a telephone pole. Once up to the 1.5" thick telephone cable(containing about 1200 small wires) the guy on the ground ties a giant cable cutter to a rope and the guy up on the stand cuts the 1.5" cable. The cut end falls to the ground and then they cut the other end at ground level about 300 feet away at the other pole. Darn cable must weigh 500 pounds so they tie it to the bumper and drag it to a remote location close by and cut it into shorter manageable pieces. All done in the dark. Then they burn the insulation off and sell the copper to an outlaw operation whom melts the copper into ingots or chunks. This time they cut 3 cables between 3 sets of poles within 400 yards distance for a total heist of 900' of cable. They do this in rural areas where few travel. It is all local boys doing it. I know half of them having lived here so long. They are all jailbirds and have a well known reputation. There is a road house about a mile up the road with about 20 motorcycles parked out front. Most of them live there. But the police force in this area is mostly African American and they dare not enter that property lol. They turn it over to the GBI since messing with communications is a fed offence. That bunch used to live a half mile thru the woods behind my home. The GBI entered my and other neighbor's properties on ATVs and helicopter and got the 7 of them about 12 years ago. They all got 8-10 and some graduated to teaching the younger guys the art after their release. The beat goes on. Law enforcement is just about to close another bust, they are on them. 3 cables at 3 spans These two cables were cut in front of Mr. Owen's property. They know he is wheelchair bound and unable to take any action against them.

jamespThat’s crazy! Im glad they are getting it fixed, sorry its took so long. Law Enforcement is sealing their case and will be coraling them up soon. They will get a solid 8 to 10 years in the federal house. The last bunch that did these crimes came out of prison looking like they aged 25 years. Not a place to spend time...

I do it all the time when my internet or cable goes out. I time the outage and ask for a credit. They always fork it over, too. ATT did come out and connected a single line laying on the ground immediately to the police station. Government gets taken care of. I so wanted to scissors that line so they could suffer with the rest of us. We won't get charged so they say. We should be charging them for lost time. ATT is an expensive joke. We were hoping for Musk to get his Starlink system in place so we could have an alternate internet provider. Other internet providers have to stay below 30% of the population to avoid monopoly status. Guess what - ATT can do 100% internet coverage and not be considered a monopoly(ask Comcast). This whole rural section of the county only has ATT internet service. Their competition is satellite coverage and it is useless. Actually rural areas that rarely have good internet coverage may end up being a blessing. Total population dependency on the internet is a frightening thought. Us country boys have all the land, guns and tractors. Enough deer to feed armies. It may end up being desperate urbanites as our worst enemy.

jamespWhy don’t they just get a job! They would rather make $1000 destroying $100,000 ? It had been a year since the last attack. Dumb me was sitting at the computer at 11:30pm when first the lights flickered(the heavy cable releasing and shaking the telephone pole)and then internet stopped working. All I had to do was call the police and send them to Cedar Grove Road and busto ! I made an error dang it.

Buy one, bury one. The deer were eating my water lilies at night that I sold for income. I welded up 5 simple trip rigs with an 8 inch section of 3/4" water pipe(cheap shotgun barrel and highly illegal). The deer stepped into the fishing line and it would fire the 12 gauge(birdshot) shotgun shell into the air to scare them off. It could easily be loaded with 000 buckshot and aimed to shoot down the trip line for a kill or just salt for a sting from hell. Bet that would dissuade the most aggressive of culprits. I hope to be pushing up daisies before things get that bad. It will be water and food shortages that spurn this behavior on. This world drought could easily bring this situation on sooner than later. 2022 has been a frightening year. There was a 120 year grace period before the flood, this time it will be drought and fire with little warning.

Dang james Really a ugly & foolish stunt those boys pulled For few measly dollars Butte a few measly dollar is all they live for like to think those days are on the wane or maybe they just beginning or we all just keep muddling through Money- over abundance or lack there- of perhaps later I’ll discreetly post the ‘crazy stunt' just to add some levity on this labor day weekend levity ---can’t keep that up enough

It will get ugly out there when the have-nots resort to stealing from the haves. They will revert to animals.

They sell dope, steal, etc. I listen to what their neighbors say about them and try to stay unknown to them. They have come down my driveway right past the trespassing signs or have shown up hiking in the woods. I make sure they know they are trespassing and ask them to leave. Their headquarters used to be in a house about a half a mile thru the woods behind me for about 15 years. I told them I leased the 80 acres between them and I and put up no trespassing signs on said 80 acres. They knew I deer hunted back there. Fortunately the owners lived in Asia and rarely visit the property. I bought a Turkish made 9mm fully automatic blank gun(see Zoraki) that sounds like the real thing and used to fire it off a couple of times a year to make them think I had some serious firepower. That may have dissuaded them, don't know for sure.

It set off a massive withdrawal rush and the banks could not keep up since 90% of bank holdings are invested/tied up. That created a bunch of angry hornets no doubt. International investing and dependency in the banking industry is not helping matters. If China were to have a serious financial failure it may bleed heavily onto the US since we have become so heavily invested in China. Trump warned us about this. Our dependency in this case is not good. Of course people totally aggressive in these situations. Then comes the military to control them. Bad day at Blackrock no pun intended.

"James, if you keep firing rounds they may try to get you to join in with them to add some firepower to their organization." Ha, too angry at them to have anything to do with them RickB. Desire would be to use the firepower on them ! Knowing that bunch they will be ripping me off and looking for that auto weapon.

You guys were lucky mohs. Forklifts are much heavier than one would imagine. Glad no one got 'compressed' ! Bet y'all had to wash your shorts lol. No one even got in trouble. Kids get into all kinds of stuff. Better to have as memories than making new memories ! The 'slo mo' effect is usually plays out when the crazy stuff happens. Glad you are still around my friend.

Out with it mohs , it's not good to tease people when it is this HOT out! Some of us might have a conniption.Nevermind, I stumbled across it.

Thanks for your concerns. It was no fun laying on the ground with a 7000 pound tractor laying on you for almost 2 hours. The wife was sitting inside in the AC watching ID the whole time lol. My fault for not setting up welfare checks every 30 minutes. Oh well, someone must have a use for me in the future is all I can figure.
