Well, did you see his self deprecating comment? It's always a sure sign men feel comfortable around you if they can speak of their manhood in such unflatering terms, lol. (i.e., speak the truth, perhaps?) Don't tell anyone, but my DH refers to his as "his shortcomings." My wife went to a national dog show in Rapid City and went rock hunting with an elderly fellow named Bob jasoninsd. I got Bob's recommendation from an RTH member. She bought back pet wood and it did closely resemble natural wood, earthy with cool details. It had solid fill zones of brown chalcedony, the lighter colors showed fine grain detail. She took plenty of photos of the area and wow that place was sexy. rockpickerforever, I suppose the big question is if our wood still petrifies ? Dad sent a photo of a new camera he purchased sitting on his desk to me and my baby brother back when he was in his late 70's.(he and Mom were divorced and he was going with his younger psycho lady). In the background was a bottle of blue pills he was unaware of lol. Me and Bob gave him hell. She the barracuda psycho lady performed a deathbed marriage and stole his whole estate. Fair warning, keep an eye on Dad's gfriends and caretakers !

Crazy how a post of frog pictures turned into a thread worthy of the cave!! 😳😳 I’m sorry to hear about your dad Jim jamesp thats really sad. Blame the off-color references on me Ashley. My filter still lacks control at times. Old habits slow to die... I was shocked at Dad's girlfriend. People got no scruples these days. However amazingly she did visit and stay with him during the days for several years. A service I could not afford to offer. I thought she would just marry and then dump him for the $$$ but that was not the case. Dad improved later and figured out what had happened and was not too happy about the marital events. Rumor has it that she had been involved in a love triangle that resulted in a murder before she met my Dad. Dad's nursing home had called me and told me she was trying to marry him on an earlier occasion. I raced to the nursing home and told her, her family, and her preacher to get off the property. I reported the preacher but he was protected by his church group. Florida has strict laws regarding deathbed marriages, Georgia is working on them. Beware if you have vulnerable parents. The lawyer's retainer for reversing such a marriage in my case was $40,000 !

The absolute worst years of my life. I got custody of him, but that didn't stop them. They ended up causing his early demise and she made off with everything. It's still very painful for me to think about.

I so feel for you Tela rockjunquie. Short version - I did not mention the betrayals and her brainwashing of my father in not trusting me. When Dad first got sick he sent me to get the will and the financial papers. In his will was several emails between his gfriend and the men she cheated on Dad with over their years together along with a note NOT to give her one penny. Eventually I was forced by her lawyer to turn those financial papers and will over to her and she pulled off the general-power-of-attorney. grrr, very hurtful. In time I realized that money is the last reason to get upset about when dealing with an estate. Settling an estate can take so many turns. You go thru that experience one time and you will never forget it. Sorry to hear you had to experience such.

I never cared about the money, but out of spite they kept and threw away all the old pictures, yearbooks and sentimental things. I learned what evil was.

I hate to sound like a wimp but the experience tore me up seriously emotionally and my Dad was not the easiest person on earth. If you had a sweet loving Dad you had to go thru hell. They probably dumped all the sentimentals into trash bags and out they went. Had that happened to my sweet Mom I'd be in jail for the big sin. Only one choice, forgive them for their depravity for the sole reason of having peace. Do that if you haven't please.

At least I got that back. I did love my dad- he was a good man.

jamesp rockjunquieI’m really sorry to hear that for you both. That’s awful. I don’t know how some people can be so heartless.

jamesp rockjunquieI’m really sorry to hear that for you both. That’s awful. I don’t know how some people can be so heartless. I found myself not wanting to get close to anyone after that experience Ashley. It was expected out of evil Evelyn, no surprise. Her ability to convince Dad I was not trustworthy is what hurt. When his mental competence improved a month later he was not happy with how he had gotten hoodwinked. Then he wanted me to undo what had been done. It was too late by then, he was legally married. Her lawyers were well versed with this stunt...this happens a lot.

jamespThat’s really sad. Especially that the lawyer seemed to know what was going on and did it anyway. The love of money… Ha, those two lawyers showed up when I was visiting him just so Evelyn(with her witness friend) could have the satisfaction of watching them tell me(and the nursing home director) to leave his room while they signed the general power of attorney giving her full control of the money. The director said they had all there warrants/etc in place to make us leave the room or be arrested. The law protecting the evil ! One of those lawyers came close to getting decked and I came close to doing assault charges. Me was angry grrrr. Not the money, the treatment.

I recall collecting yellow Jackets - nest and all with a mason jar and lid. It was a simple task. Slip the jar over the nest and inhabitants early in the morning while THEY were still in the dream world, Use the edge of the lid to detach the nest, and quickly spin the lid into place. A simple task for a simple mind . . . Until it wasn't.

A simple task for a simple mind . . . Until it wasn't. Dangerous game Dave. The poor fellow that cuts down a large dreaded paper hornet nest in the cold of the winter only to hang it in his cabin... Only to find out that the warm cabin brought all those cold hornets back to life ! check out this harmless shed in the backyard a week ago A closer look reveals a problem. Odd, this is a certain type of ground yellow jacket. They normally build a ground nest. These out-of-ground nests have become a growing trend in the past decade. This one built over a plastic gourd. Notice the paper hornet surveying the nest at upper left, a smaller yellow jacket at lower right. What is the hornet's intentions ? Apologies for the poor photo quality.
