Just over 27 hours to go in this one as I write this. If anyone else wants to vote, the end is near... .

realrockhound - Well...congratulations on the win my friend! You had an amazing cab out of some unbelievably unique and beautiful material! I was hoping I was going to get some sympathy votes there at the end and knock you back a peg...but alas...once again I'm the bridesmaid and not the bride! LOL - Seriously well deserved win my friend! For anyone who doesn't know...realrockhound hasn't been cabbing all that long really. So, a contest win this soon in the game shows how talented he really is. Very impressive my friend!

Congratulations realrockhound! Such a beautiful material and excellent craftsmanship on the cabochon. When you're ready please PM me with your ideas of the theme for the October contest.

@ everyone. Thank you for all the kind words. I genuinely appreciate all the replies. Thank you liveoak for such a fun an challenging contest. Especially since I just recently learned how to do inside curves. Everyone did an awesome batch of cabs and I’m glad I got to be apart of it. I’m on the road at the moment and don’t have the time to reply to each of you individually, but once again want to say thank you and hope to see everyone in this months challenge.

Congrats realrockhound you definitely cut a winner. Nice shape and material. Now I really wish we would have made it up there when I was there.

Three weeks ago I walked in from the backyard and told my wife, "I just finished the winning cab." Posted on here and waited with eager anticipation. Then others started posting entries, incredible entries. Agates and cobbles and jaspers, colorful, shiny and beautiful. Then someone comes along and rips a never before seen material from the bowels of the earth and fashions it into a flawless form. You all have destroyed my dreams of victory! Congrats to everyone who entered and especially to realrockhound. I actually did say that to my wife, it was tongue in cheek but I thought I had a pretty good chance. When entries started coming in I knew it wasn't happening this time! I did vote for myself, but don't feel right about it. The first three places landed exactly how I would have placed them. I'm astonished and thrilled to get as many votes as I did and it made me feel like I'm running with the big dogs!

You honestly made a great cab that has a lot of character and stood out with how you shaped it and used its play of pattern. There for a couple days I saw you and Jason start battling it out and gaining momentum on me. I'd be lying if I said I didn't start getting extremely nervous. At one point I actually told jasoninsd I was positive I wasn't going to win and it was going to come down to you and him. His reply was that I was being a whiner hahaha. Now I want to see how that cab comes out wrapped.

Congrats realrockhound you definitely cut a winner. Nice shape and material. Now I really wish we would have made it up there when I was there. Funny story about that....... where the material was found, was the exact area I was going to take you to hound. When you're back up in the area, let me know and i'll take you back in there.

When I finished my cab and looked at the pictures I thought, "Yep...this one's gotta win it!"...then some turd texted me a picture of his cab, and I knew my hopes were dashed! LOL - Not only are you "runnin' with the big dogs"...but you're bound to be lead dog in any given month with your skills my friend! LOL All teasing aside, I don't remember ever seeing a contest winner who finds a new material, mines a new material, slabs and cabs all in the same contest month (actually a three-day time period!). Pretty amazing my friend!

I like your honesty about voting for yourself. I’m sure some do as well. If you like yours best then I think it’s a fair vote. I didn’t vote for my own and was surprised to get a vote. It was a fun contest. I will give it a go next month, I don’t have any “scenic” material for this month.

Thanks, ashley. I'm struggling with the landscape material too.
