Is anyone else having an issue from the main "Portal Page" (https://forum.rocktumblinghobby.com/page/rocktumblinghobby) and it asking to download a movie file? Each time I got to that page today it wants to downloaod a movie to my computer. I cancel and everything is OK, but I get the same thing again the next time I come back to the page.

Something like this happens to me from time to time on this site. I've noticed it happens on the 'Portal Page' (https://forum.rocktumblinghobby.com/page/rocktumblinghobby) when there is a post containing a video in the 'Most Recent Post' section.

Yeah it happens to me too and I haven't been able to figure out why. As Robin said it happens when someone uploads a video on Cloudinary - when only some of us arrive open the thread Cloudinary wants to deliver the video as a file instead of displaying it properly while also being able to see it like normal in the post. The reason the portal was doing it was the post with the video was currently residing in the "most recent post" block but it has moved on now. Edit: Sorry, I'm still half asleep - ^^ yes what hypodactylus said. I will try to dig into it farther and see if I can figure out why it happens for some of us while others have no issues.

Perhaps it's a setting in the browser where you can tell it how to handle certain types of files. In my Waterfox browser, the options are: Always ask, Save file, or open file with another program. Depending on the browser you're using, those settings would be listed under Applications.

I was beginning to think maybe it's because I use an OEM version of Windows 7 that has never been updated one single time haha. It works great but certain things just don't get handled right

So a coder from Proboards looked at it and determined that it was a hidden object in ashley's post that was causing issues. Ashley, this code made it into your post - obviously nothing malicious on your part but the curiosity is in what steps did you take that ended up landing this bit of code in your post? It appears that you might have taken a screen capture video or something like that and uploaded it to Cloudinary? <object classid="clsid:02BF25D5-8C17-4B23-BC80-D3488ABDDC6B" width="480" height="286" codebase="http://www.apple.com/qtactivex/qtplugin.cab" scale="aspect"><param name="src" value="https://res.cloudinary.com/ash------d/video/upload/v1660767830/i0wrdqvhf8q6cpzbvcq2{auto-correct: MOV files not allowed}"><param name="wmode" value="transparent"><param name="qtsrc" value="https://res.cloudinary.com/ash------d/video/upload/v1660767830/i0wrdqvhf8q6cpzbvcq2{auto-correct: MOV files not allowed}"><param name="autoplay" value="false"><param name="loop" value="false"><param name="controller" value="true"><embed src="https://res.cloudinary.com/ash------d/video/upload/v1660767830/i0wrdqvhf8q6cpzbvcq2{auto-correct: MOV files not allowed}" qtsrc="https://res.cloudinary.com/ash------d/video/upload/v1660767830/i0wrdqvhf8q6cpzbvcq2{auto-correct: MOV files not allowed}" width="480" height="286" autoplay="false" loop="false" controller="true" pluginspage="http://www.apple.com/quicktime/"></object>

TommyThat’s weird! I took a quick video and uploaded it through the cloudinary button. Should I delete it?

TommyThat’s weird! I took a quick video and uploaded it through the cloudinary button. Should I delete it? All that code stuff is way beyond my understanding, but for video I just upload to my youtube and embed them. With the size limits of cloudinary I don't think video is a good idea. But I could be wrong...

TommyOh, thats just a picture not video. (You probably know that though, I thought it was an issue with the video I did.) that was a picture off the internet that I screenshot then edited to crop it then uploaded on my iPhone with it in desktop mode. It can stay deleted, no big deal.

All,
The root of the issue is the video is file type MOV and not mp4. MOV files are an Apple-based codec and Windows cannot open a MOV file on its own so it defaults to downloading the file (a user on a Mac with Safari will not have this issue most likely).
If it becomes an issue again I have a way to block MOV from being posted on the board using a bad-word censor so if it comes to that I will employ it.

All, The root of the issue is the video is file type {auto-correct: MOV files not allowed} and not mp4. MOV files are an Apple-based codec and Windows cannot open a {auto-correct: MOV files not allowed} file on its own so it defaults to downloading the file (a user on a Mac with Safari will not have this issue most likely). If it becomes an issue again I have a way to block the phrase "{auto-correct: MOV files not allowed}" from being posted on the board using a bad-word censor so if it comes to that I will employ it. Excellent detective work, Tommy! Thanks for the explanation. It makes perfect sense.

Thans everyone for all your detective work! I left for a business trip right after posting this question and came back to all this exchange AND an explanation. Thanks!
