How about 80’s new wave? I love it too. Bow Wow Wow, Echo And The Bunnymen, Oingo Boingo, I could go on and on lol…. 80's new wave is quite possibly my favorite. I'm a huge Numan fan along with countless others.

Its funny when I was a kid we scoffed at new wave because it was so much lighter than the rock and metal but it has held up much better than a lot of the heavier stuff at the time.

I was really into Punk and even burned disco records. Then New Wave started making waves and I was hooked. Oddly enough, I now really like some disco- especially Donna Summer and Giorgio Moroder. I Feel Love is just sublime.

I can even listen to The Bee Gees now and not get mad lol.

I'm a little more random in what I listen to than I said in my first answer. I'll add some song titles if you guys want to see what I'm talking about. Paradise city (guns n roses) Highway to hell (AC/DC) And a REALLY random one that I like for unknown reasons: A man without love (Englebert Humperdinck) Maybe it's because the lyrics sorta describe my life... I guess I still do like a little bit classical too. -Nicholas

I just put a little radio out in the shop and tuned it to the station that comes in pretty good. If I can find some bluetooth noise cancelling headphones that are affordable I'll be on spotify listening to a pretty wide range of stuff. On design days when I'm mostly choosing slabs and laying out, cutting preforms it is likely to be prog rock like King Crimson, Yes, Tull and whatever else gets tossed in, or maybe like a pre-punk collection. When in more production mode cabbing, slabbing or building tools and stuff good old instrumental surf music or 70's metal may be on. I really like bluegrass and real country, but usually that's for in the car traveling or relaxing at home. Hick Hop ain't happening, same with most R&B style, but good old Funk like Parliament might just get added to the get-r-done, do the old fat guy dance in the shop collection.

Lee Rockoonz , don't know what you consider affordable, but these meet your requirements for around a hundred bucks from Amazon. www.amazon.com/Raycon-Bluetooth-Headphones-Cancelling-Microphone/dp/B08TMTFR6B/ref=asc_df_B08TMTFR6B/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=507792222889&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=14661308711690853806&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9031279&hvtargid=pla-1239437680078&psc=1DH and I each have a pair, we use them daily.

I like jazz. It's nice to listen to and not too distracting when I'm concentrating on the wheels or my bench, etc.
If I'm doing a mindless job, then folk music or bluegrass keeps me motivated.

I like traditional folk music and acoustic guitar instrumentals. Most of the music I listen to are CD's of perfomers I know. I sometimes listen to old LP's.
Some contain a mix of folk, country rock, and 70's favorites.

Patty I grew up listening to Jazz. My dad had Jazz going and Mom had old country on. Maybe that's what's wrong with me. LOL!
When I was blowing glass, I wanted faster, harder music. But with wrapping, if it is too fast, I get impatient and it messes me up.

So much fun!

I've never used noise canceling headphones. Are they any good? Do they really work? I'm assuming they block the outside noise so you can hear the music without turning it up too loud?
I don't like Gansta Rap - at all, but I do like a few selected Hip Hop.
I saw Parliament when they opened for The Stones at the Superdome. What a show!! They were awesome!

I wear noise cancelling headphones at work to protect my hearing from our machines and I've usually got Pandora going. I enjoy many different kinds of music but I'm always going back to Ennio Morriconi and similar.

It works well with Pew-pews, so it SB fine with the Genie, but the hard wire to the phone won't work at all. rockpickerforever I love my Raycon earbuds for activities where I don't need hearing protection, those earmuffs would do the trick in the "wet shop". Price looks good to me, I was figuring under $150ish. Have you tried taking phone calls with them, is the mic on the ear sufficient? With the new PT job I'm on call so having that would be better than shop noise drowning out the phone. Noise reduction is good? I still have good hearing, but I worked in manufacturing for 40 plus years around stuff that pretty much ensures that it won't always be that way.

Lee Rockoonz , I've never taken a call with them, so can't speak to how well that works. Few people have my cell number, and I'd like to keep it that way. They can call my land line and leave a message there. Most are robocalls or spam calls anyway. When they don't leave a message, their number gets blocked. Did I mention I hate phone calls? So annoying.
