Just wondering.
Has anyone shipped perishable items from say the USA to Australia? Or another country a long ways away?
I need to ship a box of stuff to my relatives there in a couple of months.
It will be Fall here and late Spring there. Will be shipping in early November. Hope to beat the Christmas rush.
Some items will be cheeses that the dairies here often ship overseas. I want to include some vacuum sealed baked goods. Some candies.
There will also be some jewelry I made, local coffee beans and other things that should ship fine.
It will be a LFRB for International shipment.
One of my newfound nephews in Australia is sending a Halloween box of goodies to me to share with my daughter and her family.
I want to send some things back to him. He will be distributing some items in the box to other relatives. I am hoping to include enough stuff for about 12 people in the box. That would be my Sisters, Nieces, Nephews only. Eventually I want to send items for Great Nieces and Nephews. Some of them are in their 30's. My Australia Sisters are about 20-25 years older than me.
I often ship items to Norway, but Australia is new for me.
Thank you.

I've never shipped to Australia, but have often purchased items from Great Britain and had them shipped over. DHL was by far the best shipping company I dealt with when it came to overseas shipping. This was only a couple years ago...

I recently purchased something off of e-bay from Australia. It arrived via the post office, and took 4 or 5 weeks to get to me.

That's going to be really expensive to ship. Cheese is heavy. I would check to make sure that you can ship food items to Australia.

Be sure to check that everything is OK to ship, USPS always asks if my package contains perishables. Shipping time can be very long to Australia, my wife has a cousin there and a calendar can take two weeks.

fernwoodSeveral months ago I asked the PO about shipping a MFRB to Africa and the price was astronomical because of the Priority shipping rate. They told me that I needed to use my own box for a much more reasonable cost.
