Since Cat passed away, we have had our eye out for another. We specifically want an older, laid back and lovable, big, neutered male. I was perusing PetFinder (a huge clearinghouse for shelter animals) where I found Bob. He is an older male. Here is part of his description:
I just LOVE that he chose humans and a steady diet that he didn't have to catch. Cat was like that. He lived with us because he wanted to. He sounds perfect for us. His big paws and no tail are cool, too. I'm hoping Sid will be OK with him.
3 other families are interested in him. We will meet next weekend. He will be given to whomever he shows the most interest in, so wish us luck that he decides to show us the time of day. LOL!

Hope it works out for you. I am a cat magnet, flighty cats with fear of strangers tend to surprise their owners by treating me like family. I am not so much a cat person, preferring little dogs, but we have had some around over the years and currently are watering and feeding around 3 feral cats that keep out scorpion population down for us. I hope he is the one for you.

I have one Manx and she is an oddball. Just a bundle of energy waiting to explode. They do have extra love for those rear end scratches.
Good luck Tela

Wishing you all kinds of luck with Mr. Kitty, Tela. If he's a smart cat, he'll pick you!

Tela, good luck with getting the kitty of your dreams! Sounds like he is ready for (and deserves!) a furever home. He definitely looks like a linebacker, lol. And ya gotta love the name - Bob - short, no nonsense, just like Cat. A no-tailed wonder!
On another note, we have been having problems with two cats being in our yard a lot. One belongs to my neighbor across the street, a feral that was trapped, spayed and released by the people that do that stuff. My neighbor started feeding it and it now owns her, she named it Speedy. Although it was a feral, it tamed down quickly, and is now a "normal" cat, if there is such a thing. So far as I know, Speedy just likes to hang out in our yard, and does not do what cats do. I'm okay with her. But the other, another altered and released feral is a PIA! He does do what cats do, in my garden, and is pushing our patience. Why should I have to cleanup after cats that I do not own?? Because of the heat and dryness here, fleas can be a terrible problem if you get overwhelmed with ferals.
Speedy's mom's next door neighbors are cat people (have several cats that stay indoors, because, you know, coyotes), and they put food out for more strays. The wife would love to keep it, but I'm sure is worried it would not get along with ther other cats inside her house. Or perhaps her husband laid down the law, no more cats? A month ago, it was sitting on their driveway, and the wife was out in front. I asked her if it was her cat, she said, "It might as well be. I've already named him 'Patches.' " If it was her cat, I'd have her come over and pick up after it, lol.
Patches has a bad Cattitude and beats up on smaller Speedy. If you try to shoo him away, he'll sit and glower at you, and not move. When he is in my yard, high pressure water from the hose is a great motivator to get him to leave. Please note, I do not leave food out for ANY critters (except for hummingbirds!), so no reason why he should come here.
I need to get one of those water blasters with a motion detector (like they use to keep deer out of gardens) to attempt to keep him away. Failing that, a live trap and a trip to the pound. He won't be the first cat to get a free ride there.
