Yeah I've seen this stuff quite a bit here in AZ. Definitely a travertine/calcite 'onyx'. I bet AzRockGeek Tim knows where it's from.

Picked up this little chunk in Quartzsite Saturday just because I had never had any and I wanted to see what it looked like inside.

Cut a few slabs, pretty neat. I think it would be a good material to use in intarsia work.
