I agree there has to be some decent deals on ebay if not at your local thrift store on some piece of hardware. Also a vote for staying away from 3000 rpm for various reasons.
THis particuluar motor is labeled ccw, it may be reversible, but believe that's the wrong direction for the LS-10/St-10.? Yes this motor is reversible. The label shows "CCW REV". So it's set up from the factory to be CCW but can be reversed by switching the wires.

Next time the Denver Gem Show rolls around lookup the El Paso Rock Shop booth. Mario usually carries a good selection of Red Laguna Lace and grey Crazy Lace rough. And his prices are very reasonable.

I should probably also mention that the Duoprime 90 oil is a "food grade" mineral oil. It is primarily used for lubricating food processing equipment. So from a health standpoint it's fairly safe to use. Just don't breath the mist from it or from any other type of oil.

... QuailRiver the duoprime 70 sounds like a good choice, a paraffinic base has a lot less odor than a naphthetic oil, and my guess is it probably stays thin through repeated use a lot better. I started out with transformer oil too. If I remember correctly I had originally planned to order the Duoprime 70 but the only viscosity that I could find stocked by suppliers in the Mid-Atlantic states was the Duroprime 90. So I ordered a 55 gallon steel drum of the 90 and for a few years was running multiple saws at the same time 8-10 hours a day, 6 days a week except during the coldest 2-3 months of the year. I have strained and reused this oil over and over again and can barley notice any change. But if anything has changed from extended use I would say that it has become slightly more fluid. I have been very happy with it's performance and longevity and would definitely order it again.

Q: Are there any tricks to placing rocks in the vice and securing stability? A: A good selection of small wooden wedges and small square and rectangular pieces of Masonite come in handy to shore up any ill-fitting areas between the clamp jaws and the rock.
Q: How long does cutting oil last? A: I use an industrial grade mineral oil called Duoprime made by Citgo. Bought a drum of it in 2011 I've been filtering, and adding to the same batches of it as needed since. Prior to that I had bought a drum of used transformer oil (which is a type of industrial mineral oil) which worked well too but didn't seem to last as long - but it was already "used" when I acquired it. Our local power company used to sell it very inexpensively. But about 12 years or so ago they contracted to sell all of their used transformer oil to China. So we can't get it here anymore but there may be other areas of the country where the power companies will still sell it to the public.
Q: How do you know when it's bad or needs to be filtered? A: When rock sludge starts coating and clinging to the guide rails and powerfeed screw rod rather than draining off.
Q: Is a brown paper bag the best way to filter cutting oil? A: Works well for me.
Q: Where do you guys buy your petroleum free cutting oil? A: I don't buy petroleum free cutting oil. I like keeping my saws running as smoothly and maintenance-free as possible.
Q: How often does a saw need to be cleaned? A: Depends on how often you use it and what you've been cutting.
Q: Can it sit with oil in it for an extended period of time using it to cut a couple times per day? A: Yes. As long as the saw lid is kept closed the oil can sit in the saw for months with little or no use.

I haven't used a Lap Dancer but I believe that it is intended for faceting large sized glass. According to it's product description it only has " two angle selectors: a 30º selector with angles every 15 degrees and a 45º selector with angles every 22.5 degrees" which would prevent if from being capable of producing most proper gemstone design angles and indexes.
IMO if faceting jewelry sized stones is your goal, then as far as new machines go the Raytech-Shaw or the Poly-Metric "Crystal-tek-87" model would be the most affordable entry level machines. Both are good machines made by companies that are still in business. And as far as my experiences go both have always given me good customer service.
Or as an alternative, a used Graves Mark IV is usually the most affordable entry level used machine. But if purchasing a used Graves machine just make sure it's in good shape because Graves no longer appears to be a functioning company so new parts may be difficult to come by.

I'll take one of the tumblers if you still have one. Yes there's still one left for sale. Using the message function on this site message me your shipping address and the email address that you would like for me to send the Pay Pal invoice to and I'll get you the total this evening.

Also forgot to mention that according to the instructions this saw can be used with either water or oil as long as a rust inhibitor like Raycool is used with the water.

*All three of these tumblers are now sold. Thank you everyone! I recently picked up several pieces of lapidary equipment from a lady who said her husband bought them several years ago and that she didn't think that he ever used them. She said about eight years ago she took the equipment out of the boxes and threw the boxes away so that they would take up less space on the shelves in her garage. Judging from the appearance, I would say that she is correct about them never having been used with the exception of the Hi-Tech 8" All-U-Need unit which does appear to have been slightly used. Being unboxed for eight years on shelves in her garage some do have cosmetic issues that will not affect performance - see item descriptions of each for condition details. I am going to post as three separate posts; 3 - Raytech Tumble-Vibe TV-5 machines, a Raytech Jem Saw 45, and a Hi-Tech 8" All-U-Need machine here on the RTH site first to give the members a chance at them before I post them on any of the Face Book lapidary equipment sites. Shipping within the U.S. continental forty-eight states only. If interested please read the descriptions and view the photos carefully and if you would like to purchase any of these items then PM me your shipping address and your email address and let me know which item/items you would like and I will get you a total including shipping and will email you a Pay Pal invoice. The first to commit to purchase any or all gets priority considerations. I do not carry a mobile device so please do not be discouraged if you do not get an immediate response. Thank you! The first up: 3- Raytech Tumble-Vibe TV-5 Machines These Raytech Tumble-Vibe TV-5 machines do not appear to have ever been used. There are no abrasions inside the bowls or lids. There are a few light scuff marks here and there on the outside surfaces as the result of sitting unboxed on the previous owner's garage shelves for eight years. But over all very clean and nice condition. The price is $75 each plus shipping anywhere in the U.S. continental forty-eight states. Buy one or buy all as are available. The first to commit to purchase any or all gets priority considerations. I do not carry a mobile device so please do not be discouraged if you do not get an immediate response. Some in the furniture industry use water clear butyrate lacquer to spray and protect brass hardware from tarnishing, and on other metals to keep them looking bright. Might work on pyrite too but I haven't tried it for that. Butyrate lacquer is available in aerosol cans and in different sheens. I used to buy it from Mohawk Finishing Products. And I think Sherwin Williams used to sell it and maybe still does in aerosol form. Also there was a another company called ML Campbell that made a modified acrylic lacquer that would adhere well to metal surfaces and dried to a hard coating that was very good. But the ML Campbell stuff was slightly amber in color and the smallest quantity their dealers would sell was one gallon. Edited: After posting the above I started thinking about how a lot of the finishes and solvents that I used to use with furniture have had to be reformulated in the last few years due to newer government regulations. So I decided to look on Mohawks's site and found that they now sell an aerosol formula that is said to be for brass and other brass plated metal surfaces. Available in gloss, matte and satin sheens. Although pyrite isn't brass, as long as there isn't a weird chemical reaction to the iron or another element in pyrite then it would probably work. But I would suggest testing it on a much lesser piece than that fine looking pyrite coated sand dollar fossil you're showing in your OP. www.mohawk-finishing.com/products/wood-staining-finishing/industrial-coatings/lacquer-for-brass/
