holy cow Robert thats fantastic and most dont know that Arizona wood is the hardest to flatlap due to chipping !Iam glad to see you post i was getting worried about you almost called you friday but i got busy and forgot Doing good, still cutting on the agates! Got three wind chimes made and a lot more slabs to get drilled and polished!! For that size of slab I really needed a bigger flat lap!!, But it worked out. A abit more polishing on this one and then back to the Stinking Water ones!

Bob, I can't tell how thick that slab is. Did you back it with anything to prevent breaking? Can you handle it by yourself or do you need more hands to manage it? It is an end cut so the thicken varies, from 3 inches to 1 inch and it is just about all i can lift. did some damage moving it with my front end loader. Got wife to help me move it back into the shop yesterday after cleaning.

I used my flat lap without the sweep to lap the saw marks off using 120 grit, one heck of a lot of lapping. then I used a hand held variable speed polisher to sand and then polish. It is 30 inches across the widest part. That begs the question, "did you cut it?" Maybe I am remembering wrong but do you have one of the reciprocating saws for cutting really big stuff?. Saw a picture out here from someone, don't remember who. Thanks Henry No, did not cut it, got it from a young man on FB, he and his family needed the cash more than a piece of rock. It appeared to be cut with a wire saw. I do have a drag saw and I could have it something that large.

The video I uploaded using cloudinary is blurry so I loaded on from my web ssite. much better. I wonder if it has to do with the size increase from cloudinary... More than likely true. I ran across that before with videos and just plain forgot that it does that. It is not all that large of a file tho! cloudinary handles larger jpg files ok so the problem may be that it is a MP4. all above my pay grade.

woodman How have you been polishing this one? Unless I am mis-judging the size it does not seem that it would fit on a flat lap. Henry I used my flat lap without the sweep to lap the saw marks off using 120 grit, one heck of a lot of lapping. then I used a hand held variable speed polisher to sand and then polish. It is 30 inches across the widest part.

It is Thursday so here is one, Lucky Strike egg! 2020 was the last year that they were open for digging, assume shop in Mitchell will still be open. Update: per their Facebook page, Lucky Strike will be open in 2021 for digging. I'm so excited because the forest fire smoke kept me away last year. I saw that. Good news! too many places are closing down.

Any news on this problem? Hi, I've heard from Cloudinary that the current version of the upload widget will continue to work and there is no emergency expiration date looming that would cause the interface between the forum and Cloudinary to stop working. It's kind of like me still running Windows 7 on my computer lol - I keep updates turned off and I'll continue as long as I can. Regarding the fix - I've read how to go into the proboards side plug-in and change it to use the 2.0 widget but the change is not quite working right so I haven't done it here yet. Apparently after upgrading the plug-in to 2.0 it uploads the photos to Cloudinary but it is not plugging the BBcode into the post. Thanks for the update. I sure like Cloudinary for posting on here!

That's what my initial solution was, but I don't think it's the right move for this machine. The wheel I'd be changing is actually inside the machine. I'd have to unbolt the whole shaft at both ends to be able to change the belt. It's an old unit. I'm thinking of just replacing the split drum with a 6oo grit. That would just leave me with 3 grits and a polisher. I would go to a 600 or finer diamond wheel myself. Diamond on all three would be good!

Collect and keep the big ones until you get a bigger tumbler. Until you do get abigger one, they make a good flower bed display!

You have no idea how difficult this little task was for me, what with me having CRS and all. I had seen this triple T-egg while looking through my rock stash for something else. It was in a place it should not have been, but I was excited to see it. Even remembered where I had gotten it from.
So I mentioned it in the post just above on 1/7/21, which was a Thunderegg Thursday. I went out with my camera a couple days later, with the intention of taking a few pics of it, and I couldn't find the darn thing! Should not have been that difficult to find it, I mean, it's not like it could have sprouted legs and walked away... It had been in a smaller cardboard box, wrapped in brown paper, somewhere in the mess that is under my patio table.
Looked for it some more the next day, no luck. Finally I saw something on top of the table. Something wrapped in a beige colored plastic bag. Eureka, I had found it!
But wait, the story is not done yet. It was too late in the day for natural light to take the pics, so move another day forward to today. Took my camera out, and again, could not figure out what I had done with it. Just a little searching today, and it found it, on the table still. But not in a box, and no longer wrapped up in a beige plastic bag. Without further ado, I got some pics of it, and present them here, for your enjoyment.
A nice triple t-egg.
Area to the left side.
Love the mossy/filament stuff to the right side in this center egg.
And lastly, the lumpy outside of it. Should have taken one more shot of it from the side. Oh, well.
I was going to wait until Thursday to post the photos, but figure you all have waited long enough. Not only that, but I wanted to get them posted to the forum before I misplaced the images, lol.
I keep telling my husband that I am losing it...
(I think he is starting to believe me.)
I have the joy of finding stuff that I cut years ago and have no memory of it at all. JUst like finding it in the first place!! Nice triple!

MAybe a bit low, but I would start them out higher. you can always drop the price. Main problem is htat they are not whole rounds. They seem to be what people want. i would brouse ebay and etsy and get a better idea what material is going for. It would be best if you could get them iD'ed before listing. I have a couple pieces that are complete rounds that I will be cutting, soon I hope. They are a bit heavier than I can life and set "carefully" into the vice on the 24". The one should make a several 1/2" slices. Ya, I hear you, sometimes it take a friend or a hoist.
