How'd things work out Beth?
So-So.
Loaded almost everything in car on Tuesday. Wind Chills of about -15 at the time.
I brought everything in at around 3:15 after work.
Let stuff thaw out until 4:00.
During set up, I realized I had forgotten some of my smaller vertical display pieces.
Discovered that the hooks I bought for my revolving display were a little too wide. Ended up taping them on. It didn't look nice, but worked. I need to reduce the width of the new display hooks.
A table leg securing pin was stuck in the in position when I set up that table. My tables are adjustable height and the pins secure them. I ended up taping that side of the leg in place. Couldn’t put much weight on that table.
During set up a co-worker who my employer had put in charge of making sure everyone was in the right place, asked me to move my tables down a little. This was after my revolving display, a vertical display and some rock displays were finished. The table could not just be lifted up and moved with everything on it.
I let her know that I was in the correct place. Plus, I couldn't move down. There was only about 3' of space between one of my tables and my next door neighbors. I was already infringing on my neighbors by about 6".
The layout was kind of strange. There were traditional rows on three sides. A large middle section for a couple sellers who had brought portable canopies. I was at the end/corner of one of the traditional rows.
The side next to me was at a slant. The front of their display was about 3’ from one of my tables.
She had a manual wheelchair. Was very careful when going past the table to get behind her display.
I finished setting up at about 6:00. Show started at 5:30.
Ended up putting out about 75% of what I had brought.
I tried to organize the carded jewelry on the rotating display by theme.
It was pretty slow. I estimate about 20% of last times attendance.
One person asked what a cabochon was. I explained and showed him. He then said that it was basically a fancy name for a rock that’s been tumbled. I then showed him a rock slab and further explained the process. He said it sounded like way too much work to him. Also said that he felt $15.00 for a polished rock was too much.
There was someone else there selling jewelry. She had mostly things made with plastic/glass/metal beads. Her prices were pretty low compared to mine. Bracelets and necklaces for $3.00 to $5.00.
I ended up selling 4 necklaces, 2 pairs of earrings, 1 bracelet and 2 wire wrapped arrowheads. So, about $75.00 in sales.
Last time the Build a Bracelet/Necklace w a has a huge hit. No one was interested this time.
I did make a great connection. There was a Mary Kay Cosmetics dealer there. She loved the bee jewelry I had. Mary Kay uses a bee in their logo.
She is interested in purchasing some bee jewelry wholesale as incentives/rewards for her customers.
This time, there were lots of party plan and resale sellers. We had Scentsy, Mary Kay, Pampered Chef, Tastefully Simple, L’ Bri, Color Street, Yankee Candle, Young Living and Jamberry.
There were others selling duct cleaning, whole house air filters and gutters.
A couple people with painted signs. Silk floral arrangements. Knitting/crocheting.
One person promoting their Tarot card readings.
So, a wide variety, but not much for arts/crafts.
Some of the regular’s who have art are Snowbirds and were not present.
The event is advertised as a small business arts and crafts fair, so maybe the name should be changed.
The new case my daughter gave me worked great. It helped me be more organized.
I was not the last person to finish taking down. Usually I am.
I was quicker than some who had 2-4 people packing their display up.
These are about the only shows I can do now. Most of the other area shows are on weekends and I am now working almost every weekend.
Will post photos in another thread.
