Hi everybody. I just finished cabbing some material that I got in a large box of slabs from Tommy last December. I am familiar enough to guess what material this might be, but if you have any other detailed or regional info maybe you could help me out. I believe this is Petrified Wood, Mexican Flame Agate, Green Moss Agate, Breciated Jasper. Please correct me if needed, and add any other info you may have. Thanks, Van

Well, that moss is a standout. I got some from Tommy, too and love it! The rest I can't speak to, but maybe he remembers.

Nice cabs! It looks like the wood could be Palm wood. The rest I don't know. The Green Moss is really pretty!

Green moss looks like the old Ochoco moss agate. Red and white stuff looks like flame agate. That’s my guess

Thanks, Van betojdesigns I'm very sorry for not responding to your note asking for ID help. No excuses - I read it and needed a minute to think and got distracted and forgot. The moss agate I never positively id'd but realrockhound is probably right. I had a 40lb chunk collected by a (very) old rockhound couple from Oregon. The banded material I believe is from a one-off rock I found at Burro Creek. Was it pretty under-cutty or am I thinking of the wrong piece? When I get back to my computer next week I'll try to come back to this and post a photo. Sadly the rest of them have faded from memory - I probably knew at one pojnt.

betojdesigns I seem to be saying sorry a lot - you've probably just about had it with me at this point lol. I have no idea how this thread somehow got locked but it was an accident of course and I have unlocked it now.

It was definitely me - I checked the security logs haha. I blame it on fat fingers and bad eyes trying to post on a little phone screen. When people hear me say that I have to wait til I get back to my computer to help them this is why

betojdesigns regarding the moss agate I searched back and found where I posted this ID help thread about the boulder and a couple of members including Sabre52 thought it was Horse Canyon material. I still have most of the rock - I only cut a few slices off of it. Much of it went away from the moss pattern and got very muddled.

Thanks so much for freeing up the thread Tommy. Please shrug it off, everybody gets busy dude. No worries 😌 Thanks for the kudos on the cabs jasoninsd. The green moss agate is my favorite as well. Will have to create a special setting for this one. Thanks also to rockjunquie, realrockhound, hummingbirdstones, and Tommy for your input. Wow Tommy! That rock is a real chunker. Hope you didn’t have to carry it too far when you got it. Sure glad a piece of it found it’s way into my box of slabs.
