Those turned out really nice, especially how quickly you finished them.
Not sure if it’s just my iPad but the videos are elongated.
Quartz isn’t easy to tumble. You did a great job.

Did the rough grind in the QT12, then finished it up in the Lot-O. Still got a bunch in the rough grind. Took the vids on my phone - that may be why it is elongated. I've found the vids show off the shine better than a pic.

Another great batch! Quartz is a tricky one for me. I have some beautiful pieces with rainbow fractures, and then I get others that just hold the polish in the cracks and won't let go. Oh well...

Those tumbled beautifully! Good job Dillon! I haven’t done a lot of quartz, but when I have it seemed to grind down really quick. Interesting that yours spent months in course. Is that type of quartz tougher or something?

Is that type of quartz tougher or something? I don't think it is any harder, but I collected these broken pieces up at the mine, so they were larger than store bought stuff and in very rough shape. Also I use lots of ceramics when I tumble quartz, so I'm sure that slows it down a bit. I also don't have your Rebel . . . yet

Your quartz has better color than much of the quartz I have collected locally. Mine tends to have a dirty white color after the coarse stage.
I have the high speed Rebel 17 also, and I highly recommend it for coarse grinding.

I have the high speed Rebel 17 also, and I highly recommend it for coarse grinding. Thank you! Yes, the Coleman mine has some clear points/clusters you can find, and the stuff I tumbled here were just chunks laying on the ground at the mine that 98% of folks weren't interested in. I think I only saw one other guy grabbing this stuff. It has a nice white color that polishes up to look like ice. Some sparkle from the inside, but I can't seem to get a picture of it. That said it also has some deep fractures and seams in it. At the Coleman mine a bulldozer dumps giant piles (10 feet high) of dirt in an area and folks pick through it looking for points/clusters. This lower quality quartz is mixed in, but pretty beat up from the process. I also collect some quartz here locally in central Texas, and I get some interesting colored stuff, but nothing like this stark white color. The rebel is on my list for some day down the road. I need a bigger saw first then maybe a bull wheel . . .
