I saw this one the last time I was there and didn't get it --been thinking about it ever since sooooooo---it's mine now --only thing is they didn't know what it was either (except for the price) --the red and white almost reminds me of a giant 'laker --is slick enough to be agate but not quite sure what the bands do on the inside--think they will remain flat tho the second pic is the other end --someone has done some grinding on it to look

Looks like agate, doesn't look like a laker though. The color is really cool, are you going to cab some soon?

Nice rock Snowdog. Are you going to tumble or cab it? Jeff

it weighs in at 5# --is about 6-8" long and 3-5" across---thought about tumbling it but would get more use out of it if I slabed it ---now how to cut --across for circles or long ways or on a diagonal??

Go across for circles. That much closer to parts for a lampshade, night light, inlay tile ... you can see I'm not thinking cabs on this one.

Well, I couldn't stand it ---cleaned out the '50 #er and dropped it in with some 220 +pellets----left the lid off so I could watch what it was doing -----after about ten minutes I decided to take it out --just to big for the barrel--kept getting caught sideways but did clean some of the whiteish crust off so now it's a definate saw rock --will be a couple of days before I can get it in there tho because I already had a agate started and will finish it first----------------------unless , does anyone have a 100#er?--hehe

well I started with the little end and this is what I got so far---will prob save the rest for future use ---think I will call it "lavender lines" these colors are pretty true --the white is white and the red is actually lavender when cut in slabs --all the lines you see are in the rock --no saw marks or dust

Why do I think lavender is gonna be the color of the month around here? Beautiful slabs, Snowdog.

Kind of reminds me of that laguna agate that was just in that auction? What ever it is, it's absolutely stunning, gorgeous color.

Maybe this is imperial jasper. So how long does it take to cut each slab?

hey, if the name means the price goes up then we can call it anything --hehe--really I don't know --that's why I posted it to start with and the guy I got it from didn't remember either --I just thought it was slick enough to be agate these didn't take long to cut --put it in the 18"er and let it spin ---maybe 15-20 minutes each --the larger ones are about 2-3" by 3-4"---prob about 3-4 hours total with coffee inbetween too

First, the poppy jasper. Now this! Do you think it'll sell by the pound, or by the gram?
