I found a nice, large, gravel pile and over a couple weeks did some good picking. These three were discovered on the same day- the two on the left were found within 5 feet of each other. The one on the left tumbled in #1 grit for 1 day and #2 grit for 2 days, then I used a waterpik to clean it off. That is all I am going to do. The other two were run through a whole polish cycle. Another shot of the rock on the left- it was really fun to find this one. Another yet unpolished rock from the same pile. I think I will tumble it someday.

Beautiful finds! I especially like the last one. Wish I had a gravel pile with rocks like those!

doublebluffI keep finding myself coming back to look at your finds. Not sure which state you’re in, but if you ever like to do some rock trading with someone in central Texas, let me know. I can send you petrified wood and other interesting rocks we have here. I have a thread under rock tumbling photos called Texas rocks. It will give you a good idea of what I run across.

I'm crazy for carnelian, I'm going to take a guess it was found in Southwest Washington state? The second one is fascinating in how the two sides are different shades, maybe they're separated by a fracture and the light isn't getting to the one side. Thanks for sharing.
