Some examples of recent specimens I found in Nevada, east of Vegas, and south region of Verde Valley AZ. Clear chalcedony, I believe, the four rocks together…found a large vein in the ground and these flacked off. One dark Red/brown with some green, I believe is Christmas Tree agate, found in Nevada, east of Vegas where the Rock hounding club there frequents. Tumbles really nice, should have a couple shinning or a little clearer after next two tumbles... Not sure what the other blue/green coated one is, probably just trace minerals on the surface. heer Cheers!

Yes, most are chalcedony. The bottom one is copper ore. The dark blue in it is azurite. The dark green is malachite, which is what azurite forms in to. The brown is a mix of iron oxides and hydroxides known as limonite. The host rock for this material is mainly dolomite.
