Going to be along the north shore on the way north for a boundary waters trip this summer and looking for suggestions for beach and river locations to rockhound along the way. Thanks!

Well, you will be taking 35 north. On the way, before you get to Duluth, you will go right by Moose Lake. That is "The Lake Superior Agate Capitol of the World". It is short of Superior by a good ways but the whole area/region is full of them. There are lots of good places to go. It is hard to describe the good places because I have never actually found the real good ones. I do know that they are where you find them. You should avoid the beaches where the rock type is wrong. If you are seeing the Amygdaloidal basalt you are on the right track.
