On our Quartzsite trip my brother and I went out to Wileys Well. We found quite a few small geodes. He cut all of his the other day on his tile saw. It was kind of nice because they were almost all different inside even though they look the same on the outside. He came across the one that is soft in the middle. He can push the stuff around with this finger. He said the closest he can come to the consistency is silly string. Anybody familiar with geodes with soft centers? He sent me a video but I haven't been able to get it to load yet. In the video he is pushing around the center filling with a spoon. It looks pasty.

I gather sey still let you park out there, a couple years ago they were trying to shut it down by not allowing parking. The porcelain jasper from the caldera wall can be pretty nice.

Rockoonz, parking wasn't any issue. We really didn't see anyone there. We pulled into the campground and couldn't find any place to pay. Figured they would come around the next morning. They never did. We go up, cooked breakfast and headed out. We say a few campers along the way but once we turned onto Hauser Geode Bed Rd we didn't see another soul. Probably because of the upcoming storm. I don't think we ever made it to the Hauser Beds. I think we were at Potato Patch. Parking was certainly not an issue. We could drive anywhere and stop up until the rain came!

Most likely opal gel. If left alone in about 100000 years it should have solidified into opal. In this case patience really is the key lol.

With no commas I had to keep looking at the number to see if it was 100,000 or 1,000,000. I guess that's still too long.

I have cut open some Fallen Tree Thundereggs that had soft spots like that inside.

Oh my gosh that is so weird…cool. It’s not often we find a rock that isn’t finished, by nature, and time. Can you imagine if it was the other way around and almost every time we sliced open a geode or agate, the colored insides oozed out like thick jelly?🤣 I’d be interested to see the video if ever you can post it. Seems actually pretty educational for this forum. Is it possible that it was an open vug but there was a “recent” fracture that allowed small amounts of water and minerals in?

I was going to say mud, but your description is nowhere like mud. Nice!
