Hi All, I hope you are doing well! I have joined here as me and my daughters have recently started to Rock Tumble. It started as my eldest daughter from a toddler has always collected stones and rocks but we didn’t do anything with the rocks which I felt was a shame. We now regularly go Rock Hunting and on the final stage of our very first Rock Tumbling process. I now want to delve into Rock Carving.
Thank you for allowing me to join this community and I look forward to reading and learning from your posts.

Super cool! I always wanted a rock tumbler as a kid, and never got one.☹️ I think my parents thought it was a phase. Now I think they are surprised I’m still collecting!🤣 Welcome and I look forward to seeing some of your tumbles soon!

Mom bought a rock tumbler for birthday or Christmas 1979 when I was just 8. It got me interested, even though I was too impatient back then for rock tumbling.... Now I'm considering building a solar/battery powered tumbler from scratch RE rock carving: Easiest place to start is with Soapstone. There are varieties that range from Mohs 1 up to about Mohs 4. Because of its softness, it's easy to get extremely detailed carvings out of it. It's also relatively easy to fix if you slip or get heavy handed!
