Hi all! I've always wanted to get into rock collecting, tumbling, lapidary arts, but didn't really get started in earnest until last year!
I accidentally got thrown into the deep end of the hobby quite quickly when I inherited about 70 years of rocks collected/cut by an old timer, his 12 pound tumbler, and his Royal Jenkins 16 inch slab saw (in need of repair)! So within my first year I've been tumbling almost non-stop, and decided with all the slices I might as well get a little flat lap and try teaching myself how to cut and polish cabs!
I've done about 100 cabs so far, looking forward to figuring out how to get this saw up and running, so I can do some slicing myself

Welcome to the forum. I'm looking forward to seeing some of your old stock collection. I'd ask questions here before doing anything with the saw. There are some real saw experts here!

Welcome from AZ, formerly Vancouver WA. The Mt Hood club has a lapidary shop and members who are pretty knowledgable about saws and lapidary. You can also post any questions, best with pics or video, on what you need to know. When I was up there I did a lot of work on a Royal the club had, and rebuilt a couple that I found here and there.
