I showed some of my friends some of my rocks, and they were just like "oh yeah that nice...." Other than sean (marishiku), my friends just don't seem to appreciate rocks for what they're worth. What about your friends everyone?

some of my friends are into rocks and the others who aren't doesn't bother me. it just takes a little longer for some people to see the light. do not get discouraged take some of your rocks and give them away to children, put some in a bag or a basket and let them pick one out, it doesn't have to be agates or anything exotic driveway rock will do, I have had the most fun doing this.

I took all the driveway rock I have polished to my Dad's office at the gravel pit (where the rock came from). The guys that work for him can't believe that all those pretty rocks came from the gravel pit. They are just amazed. My sister is the secretary there and she took the rocks and put them in a shallow bowl filled it with water and put floating candles in it. Now anyone that comes into the office can see what a little time and love can do to seemingly ordinary rocks.

My friends think "oh cool" my hubby thinks I am losing my rocks, hahaha but he still loves me, and he will come look at them when i am doing something with them.
My youngest son thinks they are reall nifty and likes to go to the creek or sandpit and collect them, my older son could take or leave them.

My friends think my rock fascination is absolutely nutzoid... and that's their specific word... ::Grins:: Hopefully if I can turn my hobby into a business as planned, they will see otherwise... but for now, I let them have their opinions, and then go back to my rocks to vent...::grins:: Don't let your friends get you down... either that, or find a hobby of theirs, and pick on them about it...

My friends & family are in awe. Really, and it is sincere. Two different friends have taken it up as a direct result and my brother will too -- sooner or later. It's lurking in there. Several people who never took an interest in rocks at all are now looking at them in a whole new light -- seeking out rock stores on trips, etc. It's very cool.
Here's a couple things I did with rocks. I had a bunch of very rounded ovals, driveway rock in different pastel shades mostly yellow/pinkish/orange/peach, some with bands, it was spring around Easter and they looked like easter eggs so I made up baskets. Then I was involved in a team game and ended up captain, at the end of the tournament I surprised everybody on the team by passing around a basket and everybody take a rock. Some people were just amazed, acted like they had never seen a tumbled rock before.
Just recently I put out a bowl of small prairie agate (rock shed) and a money jar with a sign in a place where kids practice sports, the sign explained that one of the coaches has been knocked out by a serious illness and can't work for a long time, if ever, asking 25 cents each for the rocks all to go to the coach. The coach, by the way, was also into rocks and considering starting up one of his childhood tumblers because of my rocks. I found out accidentally that he had been into rocks as a kid and he was one of the first people I could talk with about it. Anyway, back to the rock sale: Honor system. Jar and rocks are apparently circulating among various coaches who are there at different times and hopefully putting it out. I've been told that there is money in the jar. I don't know how much. Can't wait to find out. These are the first rocks I've ever sold. It feels right.

I have my little stepgrandson over quite often as he lives on the farm nowadays. He loves the rocks and is dead careful with them. I have a wooden bowl filled with them somewhere in the room and he tries them one by one for size in a vase ;D Then he comes to me to show how pretty they are ;D ;D And I never get tired of praising his good taste He only turned 3 in june. Another grandson chose the 3 rocks he could carry in his hand on sunday . Fantastic the way he weighed them off one against the other haha. He will be 4 in november. And I have had other kids go home with rocks. We are only the instrument to get the beauty to show. Might as well share it about. Jack

yup, most of my friends think i'm an absolute whack job when it comes to rocks....they don't get it. one girlfriend that actually does like rocks is even getting bored with me.......my husband puts up with me and the noise, but he isn't interested either. my parents are cool about it, they ooh and ahh when i bring up my latest batch, and one guy that works for my dad is getting seriously interested in it, i think he is getting hooked and will buy a tumbler for his grandkid soon....(yeh, grandkid, right.....)...HA!
you guys are the only ones that seem to love the stones as much as i do!

I'm pretty lucky, most of my friends find it quite interesting and are more than willing to go for a walk or trip to the gravel pit while I dig around. My daughter and son are also really interested in rocks, though they strictly look for lakers. I'd give my right arm to have the buckets of agates they have. LOL! My daughter's hubby just kind of puts up with it, my son's wife laughs like crazy when we talk about going agate hunting. Go figure!
