well, then you could make one of these to hold it in ;D ;D the first one goes to the daugther that got the lamp--those two slabs match the corners of the lamp guess you could use it as a napkin holder on the table too---how does food always enter in this?!! just a small piece of oak , a router bit in the drill press to make a slot and a little stain to finish

Nifty idea, Snowdog. Now would Montana moss go with salt and pepper? . . . . .

I did not see the lamp, but if you burn a small candle in the center it would look cool with the flames lighting up the stone at night... Nice.

Edog,
Do you or anyone else remember the lamps in antique shops where a light source was positioned behind a piece of material & when lit, it would glow through. Most of the time it was a pale whiteish material & it would have some kind of a scene that would appear. (the brain is straining to remember the actual details) Anyway...why couldn't you do something similar with those beautiful slabs? Either place a lite source behind a single slab to make a cool glow OR build a small box with a small bulb inside, (pretty wood please!) notch 2 sliders in the front & a piece of slab could slide in & be the window! You could also make it so you could interchange the slabs.OR, does anyone do stained glass stuff? How about a fire screen make out of assorted slabs...boy would that be beautiful! OR, (last thought) how about a lighted box with a "window of leaded slabs" to slide in. Look how many people back lite their cabs & slabs so we can see what's inside. Am I crazy?

I've tried the votive candles but they tend to only light a small portion of the slab --the small 7 watt bulbs are better but then you have light going out all around it too --- the best way is to make the panels into lamps ---and that could be a notched side if you wanted to slide it in --then make some more the same size so you could interchange them --or put four sides together and just turn it 90 degrees each week for a different look the one I saw that I really want to make one of these days is a folding room divider --it had about 4 panels that were a foot wide and 5' tall --they had glass on each side but was full of slabs --not exactly touching each other but close --and it was filled with expoxy inbetween the slabs ---could stare at that all day and see different things all the time!!
