Well...looks like my trip to Minneapolis has been shelved. Ivan is going to be sending some healthy winds in our general direction and Rob (hubby) says it's not worth sitting at the airport with all the delays they're expecting. (Last hurricane backed up flights for hours and cancelled a bunch of others at the Atlanta airport.) I think Ivan will be a challenge for a lot of us in the Southeast. I'm surprised, Atlanta has a high wind advisory for Thursday and Friday. I don't remember ever having one Atlanta before, but I do remember when Hurricane Opal came through years ago...we had 8 trees in the backyard blow over. Sadly, I think I'll stay home and avoid the airport. :-(

Awww Helen, I'm sorry. Will your hubby be up here for very long? Maybe we can plan another week/weekend? Stay safe down there, I really don't blame you for wanting to avoid the airport.

Hey guys, I'm in white county, North GA and it looks like it's gonna get harry up here. We are currently under a tornado watch till 9:00 pm tonight, Then it's supposed to get worse. Just this moment I can here the winds pick up and the rain really coming down. There's a tall, thin young tree growing too close to the house for my comfort. I've seen high winds make it almost slap the deck (second story on that side of the house). Been begging my husband to cut it down, he didn't want to. Yesterday our neighbor was cutting some trees and offered to cut it for us. Michael was willing and I said no, god knows why. Oh well, batten down the hatches, here we go. Gonna go fill some water jugs now. We stocked up on canned goods (we have a gas stove) and I'll try to make another store run before tonight, tommorrow we probably can't get out. Helen, hang on for the ride. It's 12:30 pm right now, if you read this, IM me about what it's doing there, K?

Cookie, if it's a young thinner tree, it will probably bend with the wind, it's them big old stiff ones that break. The biggest problem is if the ground gets too wet the wind can uproot them. I'll be saying prayers for all of you, please take care and let us know ASAP that you are all ok. [glow=red,2,300] ~ Cher ~[/glow] pages.prodigy.net/bestsmileys1/signs/RockOn.gif [/img]
