john i use 60/90 for as long as it takes, then 1 wk in each: 120/220, 400 or 500 (whichever i have), 1000 aluminum oxide, then the polish stage.

I use 600 for prepolish, till I'm happy, then cerium oxide for polish. Think I will add a 1000 step one of these days.

What is TXP? I just ordered more grit from The Rock Shed, hopefully enough to last for awhile. I just had a kit before but I added the 1000 grit Aluminum Ox and Tripoli to this order. [glow=red,2,300] ~ Cher ~[/glow] pages.prodigy.net/bestsmileys1/signs/RockOn.gif [/img]

CHER I always use TXP polish- It is imported from Germany- sells for $6.75 a lb and is an excellent polish. www.stoneageindustries.com Look under lapidary parts and supplies....

Well, I did find out one thing from that site. There's a Minnesota Lapidary Supply, they don't have their website done yet but I'm hoping it will be a good thing. [glow=red,2,300] ~ Cher ~[/glow] pages.prodigy.net/bestsmileys1/signs/RockOn.gif [/img]

KD, Rocknet is where I got my start in the hobby. There all sorts of people in the different aspects of lapidary and also many knowledgable people who are in the mineral collecting areas. For some reason a year or so ago, the owner of the web site (Bob Morgan) just shut it down. There's all sorts of stories going around as to why he did it but none that I know of are actual fact. Rocknet re-opened a short time ago and has been doing pretty good as most of the members have gone back to it. The group is more mineral oriented but if you want to take a look here's a link to it. www.rockhounds.com/rocknet/index.shtmlAlso,here's a link to the home page. www.rockhounds.com/rockshop/table.shtml#rocknetTom
