I just called William Holland - School of Lapidary Arts and found out that planning well in advance is a good idea! Most of their classes are booked for the rest of the season and will not post their new schedule till sometime between November and January. They are only open through the months of April - October. *sighs* Guess I'll have to wait till the spring. First chance I get I'm signing up for the silversmithing courses. In the meantime, I'll have to teach myself how to make Cabochons. In case some of you missed it...here's their website link. www.lapidaryschool.org/index.html

Wow, I never knew there was a school like that.
Wish there was something like that here, I would go back to school then.

My husband REALLY wants me to go to lapidary school, but we're going to have to save up. There is one in NC not that far from here, (same one, Helen?) and tuition , room and board is very reasonable, it's all those"OOOHH, well you need this this and this. We'll sell it to you...." kinda things. I want to take a cabbing class. Then, later silversmithing. Keep us posted!

Cookie, This place is in Georgia and not far from Helen...right on the Georgia Tennessee border.
Start saving now...and by the first of the year you should be able to save enough to go for a week. (After talking to them, I learned that classes fill up REALLY fast so I plan on signing up well in advance of the session.)
I figure the most it will cost me is about $500...including supplies. I don't think that's too bad for a week of classes...including food and a room too. Though, since I'm getting the comb. unit, I've pretty much tapped my spending money for the next few months and it's probably better that I wait till the spring.

I thought about $500 too. Well worth it. Let me know when you have an aproximate time frame. I may be able too take vacation then and we could share a room, cutting cost in half!

Sounds fun Cookie! I think it's 265 per person to share a room (then we have to add class supplies). 350 or so for a single room. Either way, it would be fun. I really want to take Silversmithing first. By spring I had better be able to make cabs blindfolded. By the way....when are we going to scan the hooch for stuff? ;D I'm available next weekend!
