HI I recently bought a ray tech vibrating tumbler. Everything has been going ghreat (still on my first batch). UNTILL I ran the 3rd grit- it came with emery turkish iolox- I ran it for about 7 or 8 hours (while I was at work. Now the slurry and the iolox stuff mainly WONT COME OFF THE ROCKS! I tried hosing them with a strong spray, soacking and shaking in detergent and using a scrub brush but Im clueless. perhaps I used to much water or not enough or not enough or too much grit.
HELP PLEASE my rocks were looking great untill now!~
thank you.
Adam

i would try going back a step and running them till they grind off the iolox and then get some plain 500 or 600 grit and use that see what happens

Hi Adam, I'm using a Ray Tech vibe as well and I would agree with Sands. Back them up to 220 and try 600 (that's my fav pre polish). When they clean up in 220 (it may take a day or two) run them in borax and water for a couple of hours, rinse, and start in 600. Sometimes when you get that mucc "muck" in pre polish its because, in my experience, the earlier grind stage needed to go a little longer. Good luck and let us know.

I like Iolox and get great results with it. It does get very black/brown and sticks to the rocks. Did you put them back in the barrel with soap and water for 12 hours or so? That should dislodge the rest of it. When I have "recycle" type polish lying around I throw some in with the soap and water -- a little headstart.
Best of luck!

Thnx guys, alot. I am gonna try running them with the rougher grit again, because yeah I did kinda jump the gun and jump ahead to the iolox haha. I will try the borax water idea as well thats a great idea for many situation it seems like. Thnaks guys.
