I'm interested in tumbling opal at some point in time. Does anyone know if opal can be tumbled? Are there any pointers I should be aware of before I try it? Thank you in advance for your suggestions.

Please do not tumble Opal. If you have some and want to just throw it away, send it my way. Especially Lightning Ridge and Boulder Opal. Opal is way too soft and will also fracture. You will be so disappointed. I would sure love to meet some from Down Under. I would love to make a good contact for rough. I do so love Opal.

I saw some boulder opal for sale on e-bay. Very pretty stuff, a bit expensive. Tami

I have a beautiful boulder opal cab that I did from some rough. Boulder Opal is very fragile so I have hung onto it for just the right setting. I really like the contrast between the iron matrix and the opal. It has tiny stars all through it, and it glows in the right light.
