don't know if this is the same everywhere but I bought some grit from a guy who polishes telescope mirrors, it was cheaper than rock tumbling shops. Might be worth a search to save a bit. cheers.

Sounds like it would work. Polishing telescope mirrors is a pretty serios issue. Try it out and let us know how it works.

If its for polishing something like a telescope which is really just glass is probably near 1000 grit i'd have to estimate, and would most likely work excellent for softer rocks, but it might just be useless on rocks harder on the mohs scale.
