Anyone know if Wonderstone will take a shine? A polish recommendation? Any info at all? It seems very porous but stranger things have happened.

gorgeous stuff, nice colors but i couldn't get it to take a polish. very soft, very porous....pretty wet.
i tumbled a good big batch of it, i may try to urethane some of it. it's pretty even without a shine.
i have a whole collection now of "Stuff That Don't Shine".........

Hey Banjo,
The best luck I have ever had was with Aluminum Oxide with a pinch of Titanium Oxide thrown in as the polish.
See if that helps,
John

hey banjo you got some of that m-5 polish and as easy as it put a nice shine on the sodalite i think it will shine up the wonderstone i read somewear that the m-5 is used for hard to polish stones id give it a shot on the polish pad see what happens try a 1200 belt or a very used 600 belt then try and polish im finding the extra 1200 grind make a real big dif ,, i can only amagine what an extra 3000 grind would turn out prob need shades hahaha

i have come across two kinds of Wonderstone....the stuff from Utah is very soft, there is an African variety that purports to be MOH 7.....i believe that (the African) is what is referred to in your link, Tellfamily....
when i get a grinder, Sands, i will try that M-5 super stuff on some of the pieces i have in my "Stuff that Don't Shine" basket...
