Anyone try using strips of felt to cushion during the polish stage? Not sure if it would help or not. But have some lying around and thought I might try it to see if it will polish and buff at the same time.
I was thinking of dampening the felt, squeezing out and then adding to the load, so it wouldn't soak up the excess moisture.
Any thoughts?

Hmmmm I have some felt too. You're thinking strips, eh? I can't see what would hurt trying it...I have a load about to go into 500...I might just give the felt a whirl. It's GOT to be easier to deal with than (^(*%&%&$( plastic pellets.

OH! It just occurred to me that felt might not be colorfast.

I have some white felt. Might be able to use that... I didn't even think the colors might bleed or run.... Though, I wonder, on the colored ones...if I could just bleach them prior to use. (So I can get rid of the bag of felt I have....may as well put it to use)

I would expect felt to do one or more of several things: - get shredded, rending it ineffective possible - act as sponge and leech up the water - suck up the polish
Maybe not so good a choice...but you don't know til you try!

i am leaning towards Skippers points.....i think it would just sponge up and suck polish.....
(Yo, Buddy, ..YEH, You! go sponge up and suck polish...!!!)
i'll have to remember that one...anyway, i'd stick to pellets or walnut shell....just my gut feeling....

I will still probably try it in my rotary tumbler....so as not to waste too much polish in case my idea flops.

make sure you take pictures of the little sodden ball of felt and entangled rocks, much resembling a hairball of penultimate proportions.......(j/k).
